Abstract: An objective includes a first lens group that has a positive refractive power and a second lens group that has a negative refractive power. The objective includes a first negative lens and satisfies 0.005≤do1/ho1≤0.1 (1) 0.005≤hmin/hl≤0.72 (2) 10 mm≤L≤100 mm (3) 0.1≤L/f≤31 (4) when do1 is a thickness of the first negative lens, ho1 is an axial marginal ray height on a lens surface on the object side of the first negative lens, hmin is a minimum value of an axial marginal ray height in the second lens group, hl is a height of an axial marginal ray on a lens surface of the objective that is situated closest to the image side, L is a length of the objective, and f is a focal length of the objective.

The electronic image pickup system comprises an optical path-banding zoom optical system comprising, in order from its object side, a 1-1st lens group G1-1 comprising a negative lens group and a reflecting optical element P for bending an optical path, a 1-2nd lens group G1-2 comprising one positive lens and a second lens group G2 having positive refracting power. For zooming from the wide-angle end to the telephoto end, the second lens group G2 moves only toward the object side. The electronic image pickup system also comprises an electronic image pickup device I located on the image side of the zoom optical system.

Abstract: An observation device 100 includes an objective 2a, camera 3, an observation scope changing device, and a control device. The objective 2a having from 4× to 20× and including a positive lens group forms an image with light from sample S. The lens group includes a single lens L1 having a concave surface on an object side and a variable aperture diaphragm 4. The camera 3 converts the image into an image signal. The observation scope changing device performs electronic scaling on the image signal and performs an observation scope changing process. The control device controls the diaphragm 4 in accordance with the observation scope changing process. The observation device 100 satisfies a conditional expression is satisfied, 3≤|fa/fGS|≤10 where fa is a focal length of single lens L1 and fGS is a focal length of a lens group from an object plane to the diaphragm 4.

Abstract: An immersion objective has a numerical aperture of 1.42 or higher, and includes in order from the object side a positive first lens group, a positive second lens group, and a negative third lens group.
