    摘要： A paper overlaid wood product having a relatively low density. The board includes a core comprised of oriented strand board. A resin impregnated kraft paper overlay is adhesively secured to the top surface of the oriented strand board core. The paper overlaid wood board has a density ranging from about 35 lb/ft3 to about 55 lb/ft3, a modulus of rupture (MOR) of from about 3000 to about 9000 psi, a modulus of elasticity of about 0.4 million to about 1.2 million psi, and a thickness of about 0.25 inches to about 1.25 inches.

    摘要： A composite wood panel having a first and second longitudinal edge, wherein the first edge includes a groove and the second edge includes a tongue for interlocking and engaging the complementary edges of an adjacent tongue and groove wood panel. The groove has two sides and a base transverse thereto, and the tongue has two side walls and a head extending outward from the second longitudinal edge, thereby forming a juncture between the side walls of the tongue and the second longitudinal edge. A shoulder is located at the juncture between one side wall of the tongue and the second longitudinal edge. Upon assembly of two complementary wood panels as described above, a novel tongue and groove joint is formed wherein the shoulder will abut the first longitudinal edge, thus preventing the tongue from being completely introduced into the complementary groove. As a result, a first aperture is formed between the head of the tongue and the base of the groove and a second aperture is formed between the first and second longitudinal edge both above and below the engaged tongue and groove.

    摘要： The invention relates to a fire retardant oriented strand board composite material comprising a mixture of wood strands, at least one organophosphorus ester, at least one polymeric binder resin, and a wax. In a process embodiment of the present invention this mixture is consolidated under heat and pressure to form an oriented strand board composite panel, whereby during consolidation the organophosphorus ester chemically interacts with the polymeric binder to provide cross-linking between the binder and the organophosphorus ester.

A spacer can push into its panel upon linear expansion of a panel. The spacer can be, e.g., a tongue, edge profile, or separate spacing material. Methods for making and using panels are disclosed.
