Abstract: A coil component includes a body that is made of a composite material containing a resin material and metal powder, a coil conductor which is provided in the body and an end portion of which is exposed on an end face of the body, and a metal film that is provided on an outer surface of the body and that is electrically connected to the coil conductor on the end face in the outer surface. The outer surface of the body has a contact area that is in contact with the metal film. Multiple particles of the metal powder escape from the resin material and are in contact with each other in the contact area of the body.

Abstract: A surface-mount inductor comprises a molded body containing a metal magnetic powder; at least one coil buried in the molded body such that lead-out end parts at both ends of the coil are at least partially exposed on a surface of the molded body; and an external terminal formed over an exposed surface of each of the lead-out end parts. A metal magnetic powder exposed portion is formed at least around the exposed surface. The external terminal at least includes a first plating layer formed over the metal magnetic powder exposed portion and the exposed surface of the lead-out end part, and a conductive paste layer formed on the first plating layer and made of a solidified conductive paste. Consequently, the surface mount inductor comprises an external terminal having high connection reliability.

Abstract: An inductor includes a base body including a coil conductor and a core in which the coil conductor is embedded. The coil conductor includes a wound band-shaped conductive wire. The core contains soft magnetic particles and a resin. The base body is rectangular-parallelepiped-shaped and includes a pair of principal faces that are opposite to each other, a pair of end faces that are opposite to each other and adjacent to the principal faces, and a pair of side faces that are opposite to each other and adjacent to the principal faces. A base-body protection layer is on a surface of the base body. The coil conductor includes a wound section and extended sections extending from the wound section. The extended sections have surfaces exposed on the surface of the base body at respective exposed portions on each of which a metal layer that is an outer electrode is formed.

The insulating layer covers a surface of the band-shaped conductive wire. The fusion layer covers the insulating layer. A recess defined by the insulating layer is in an end face of a wound section, in which the band-shaped conductive wire is wound, in an axial direction, and is at least partially filled with a resin of the fusion layer.

Abstract: A surface mounted inductor is equipped with a coil formed by winding a conductive wire, and a formed body in which the coil is sealed with a sealing material that mainly contains metal magnetic powder and a resin. The coil is embedded so that surfaces of lead-out ends are exposed on surfaces of the formed body. The resin at portions of surfaces of the formed body where external terminals are formed is removed, and the metal magnetic powder and a plating layer forming the external terminals are joined to each other, thereby connecting the external terminals and the lead-out ends of the coil.
