    Abstract: An apparatus for isolating horizontal shocks, generated in high speed elevators by inaccurately aligned guide rails, from the elevator car body includes spherical shock absorbers for supporting the bottom side of the car body in a car sling and centering elements with cooperating guide pins connected between the top side of the car body and the car sling. The lower portion of the car body can, in the case of horizontal shocks, execute a rolling deflection movement on the spherical shock absorbers to absorb these shocks. This deflection movement takes place against a centering spring tension, which is produced by a centering device attached to the bottom side of the car body and a guide pin extending through a guide sleeve of the centering device which pin is moved by the car body into an inclined position. An elastic filler element produces a centering counterforce on the upper portion of the guide pin. The lower portion of the guide pin extends into a ball shaped body which is supported in a spherical tensioning device. The spherical tensioning device has a clamping and release device for releasing and limiting the deflection movements. The release takes place during the travel of the car and the limiting takes place prior to the end of the trip in order to assure a safe functioning of the door coupling apparatus and of the door unlocking mechanism.

    Abstract: An apparatus for performing an evacuation journey of an elevator car includes at least one brake control apparatus mounted on the car and an evacuation drive. In the case of an interruption in the normal travel of the car, an evacuation journey is initiated by an evacuation control in the evacuation drive. The elevator brake is released and the evacuation control moves the car to the next floor at a reduced speed. On reaching the next floor, a brake pawl of the brake control apparatus pivots into a switching opening or runs up onto a switching cam and thus initiates the final braking of the car by actuation of a brake control contact. Upon arrival in the door zone, the car and floor doors are pushed partially open by a spring so that confined passengers can further open the doors and release themselves.

    Abstract: A vertical-horizontal passenger conveying system includes elevator cars provided with individual drives for travel in intersecting vertical and horizontal shafts. The shafts have fixed and movable vertical guide rails with steps which are engaged by roller chains of the drives wherein more than one car can travel in the same shaft at the same time. The movable rails are latched in a vertical position for vertical travel of the cars and are pivoted out of the way for entrance of a car into an horizontal shaft. Supports on the cars or in the shafts relieve the force applied to the steps through the chains to permit movement of the movable rails. Deflecting and tensioning rollers for the chains have flanges for running on horizontal guide rails in the horizontal shafts.
