Abstract: A detachable component of a wearable medical device in accordance with an embodiment of the present technology includes a housing and a latch operably associated with the housing. The latch includes a cam having a first position at which the cam projects outwardly from the housing, a second position at which the cam is shifted inwardly relative to the first position, and a third position at which the cam is shifted inwardly relative to the second position. The cam is resiliently biased from the second position toward the first position. Fully actuating the cam moves the cam from the first position to the second position. The detachable component further includes a handle accessible from outside the housing. The handle is movable in an actuating direction to move the cam from the first or second position to the third position.

Abstract: An infusion set for use with a fluid infusion device having a fluid reservoir includes a cannula that provides a fluid flow path and a first housing. The first housing includes an articulation member coupled to the cannula. The articulation member is pivotable relative to the first housing to move the cannula relative to the first housing. The first housing is coupled to a fluid supply line to provide a fluid to the cannula, and the fluid supply line is to be coupled to the fluid reservoir to receive the fluid. The infusion set includes a second housing uncoupled from the first housing that surrounds the first housing and receives a portion of the fluid supply line.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to a cannula that is provided for delivering a substance, such as a medicine (e.g., insulin) to a patient, where the cannula has reduced likelihood of kinking or occlusions when implanted in a patient. The cannula may have a reduced number of stress concentrations along its length, an angled tip and/or a curve in its length. The cannula may include other designs to reduce kinking, such as internal ribbing and/or a slit along its wall.

Abstract: A fluid infusion device includes a fluid pump mechanism having a rotor and a stator. The rotor includes an optically detectable feature, a reference surface, and a cam element rising from the reference surface. The stator includes a cam element having a stator cam surface. The cam elements cooperate to axially displace the rotor as a function of angular position of the rotor, wherein the detectable feature rotates and axially translates as a function of angular position of the rotor. A biasing element provides force to urge the rotor cam element toward the stator cam element and toward the reference surface. A drive motor actuates the rotor to pump medication fluid from a fluid cartridge module to a body, via a subcutaneous conduit. An optical detection circuit interrogates the detectable feature during operation of the fluid pump mechanism to determine an operating condition of the fluid pump mechanism.

Abstract: A fluid infusion device and an insertion mechanism are disclosed. The insertion mechanism actuates an assembly having a fluid conduit and a needle. An embodiment of the insertion mechanism includes a first sliding block, a second sliding block, a torsion spring, and a living hinge. The first block is coupled to the conduit to move the conduit in an insertion direction. The second block is coupled to the needle to move the needle in the insertion direction and in a retraction direction, wherein movement of the second block in the insertion direction pushes the first block in the insertion direction. The living hinge is coupled between the torsion spring and the second block. Rotation of the torsion spring during an insertion action actuates the living hinge to move the second block in the insertion direction and, thereafter, in the retraction direction.
