Abstract:
A photosensitive composition for electrophotography comprising polyvinyl carbazole, a charge-generating organic pigment, and as a sensitizing agent a silicone oil, thereby enhancing the sensitivity of the resulting photosensitive layer and improving the aging characteristic thereof.
Abstract:
A toner cleaning apparatus for removing a toner left on the surface of an electrophotographic photosensitive material by a doctor blade in the electrophotographic process includes an elastic doctor blade having a toner-scraping top end, a holder for supporting the base of the doctor blade, a fulcrum for swingably supporting the holder and a pressing mechanism for pressing the top end of the doctor blade to the surface of the photosensitive material, wherein the fulcrum and doctor blade are arranged so that on the feed-out side of the photosensitive material, the contact angle .alpha. between the top end of the doctor blade and the photosensitive material is smaller than the angle .beta. between the photosensitive material and the line connecting the top end of the doctor blade to the fulcrum, and the pressing mechanism and doctor blade are arranged in such an elastic engagement relation that as the applied stress is increases, the top end of the doctor blade is retreated to the feed-out side and the degree of flexion of the doctor blade is increased.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of preserving ocular cells in a patient having or at risk of developing glaucoma. In particular, microglial cell activation can be decreased, oligodendrocyte loss can be reduced, and/or the viability of retinal ganglion cells can be preserved by administering a selective TNFR2 antagonist to an individual having or at risk of developing glaucoma.
Abstract:
Provided are methods and compositions for maintaining the viability of photoreceptor cells following retinal detachment. The viability of photoreceptor cells can be preserved by administering a neuroprotective agent, for example, a substance capable of suppressing endogenous MCP-1, a MCP-1 antagonist, a substance capable of suppressing endogenous TNF-alpha, a TNF-alpha antagonist, a substance capable of suppressing endogenous IL-1 beta, an IL-1 beta antagonist, a substance capable of inducing endogenous bFGF, exogenous bFGF, a bFGF mimetic, and combinations thereof, to a mammal having an eye with retinal detachment. The neuroprotective agent maintains the viability of the photoreceptor cells until such time that the retina becomes reattached to the underlying retinal pigment epithelium and choroid. The treatment minimizes the loss of vision, which otherwise may occur as a result of retinal detachment.
Abstract:
A prop is extending from the printer unit upwards. A rear end portion of an upper casing is coupled with an upper portion of the prop pivotably in a vertical direction. A transparent platen is provided on a top face of the upper casing. An image capturer is provided in the upper casing and operable to capture an image on an original disposed on the platen and to output image data. A projection is provided on a bottom face of the upper casing and is extending in a front-rear direction of the upper casing. The projection has a rear end face adapted to be supported by the prop when the upper casing is placed in a first position causing the platen to extend horizontally. The rear end face extends obliquely in a forward-downward direction.
Abstract:
A device capable of being operated by remote control for driving a part on a vehicle uses an ultrasonic linear actuator as a source for driving the part on a vehicle. An ultrasonic linear actuator neither produces electromagnetic noises nor is influenced by electromagnetic noises, which is useful for electronization of parts on a vehicle.
Abstract:
An electrophotographic process includes performing removal of electricity or pre-charging by direct current corona discharge and main charging by direct current corona discharge of a polarity reverse to the polarity for removal of electric charge or pre-charging on an organic photoconductive photosensitive layer chargeable at both the positive and negative polarities. Then is performed imagewise exposure, development with a toner and transfer of the toner image. Such operations are repeated to form plural images. Main charging is carried out with an applied current such that the photosensitive layer surface potential is saturated at 500 to 700 volts (absolute value) and removal of electric charge or pre-charging is carried out with at an applied current lower than the saturation injected current value and corresponding to 40 to 90% thereof.
Abstract:
A matrix substrate having, on a substrate, a plurality of electroconductive members to constitute pixel electrodes arrayed in a matrix pattern and an electrically insulating member comprising a projecting region disposed between the electroconductive members to separate the pixel electrodes from each other. A metal material having a higher melting point than that of the electroconductive members is placed at the base of the projecting region.
Abstract:
A matrix substrate comprises a pixel region formed by arranging a plurality of pixel electrodes to a matrix, drive circuit regions for feeding said pixel electrodes with electric signals and sealing regions. The gaps separating the pixel electrodes are filled with insulation members of an insulating material to provide a continuous surface connecting those of the pixel electrodes and members of the material of the pixel electrodes and those of the material of the insulation members are arranged at least either in the drive circuit regions or in the sealing regions to provide a continuous surface there.
