Abstract: An improved film format for a self-developing, peel-apart film unit having flexible positive and negative sheet elements and a pod of developer liquid, wherein at least one of the sheet elements bends when a force is applied to a trailing edge thereof to effect sheet element movement. Pockets are formed on the leading end of each sheet element so that a force may be readily coupled thereto without bending either sheet element while they are being moved, for example, into a developer liquid spread system for subsequent film processing.

Abstract: A liquid-crystal display system includes a display having a bistable liquid-crystal material, such as a ferroelectric material, and two sets of electrodes disposed substantially perpendicularly to each other and on opposite sides of a layer of the liquid-crystal material. In each set of electrodes, drive circuitry is connected via resistors to front terminals of each of the electrodes, and via resistors to back terminals of each of the electrodes. The drive circuitry provides further that drivers having equal number of output drive ports are coupled via a network of electrical conductors to the front terminals and the back terminals of electrodes in each set of the electrodes in accordance with an arrangement wherein the front terminals are arranged in groups such that, within each group, the front terminals are connected to corresponding ports of a driver. A similar arrangement is provided for the connection of the back ports to a driver subject to the proviso that the terminals in the various groups are coupled to the driver ports by a permuted arrangement allowing each electrode in a set of electrodes to be unambiguously identified by a pair of driver ports wherein one port of the pair is in the driver connected to the front terminals of the electrodes and the other port is in the driver connected to the back terminals of the set of electrodes.

Abstract: A fluid regulation system is provided comprising a source of a fluid, a tube in communication with the source for delivering the fluid from the source to a site, and a valve for controlling the rate of fluid flow from the source to the site. A remote control unit for controlling the valve is also provided to allow the user to adjust the rate of fluid flow from the source through the tube to the site. Typically, the system excludes any means for automatically adjusting the rate of fluid flow from the source through the tube to the site. The invention is particularly useful when the valve is out of the user's reach. Also provided is a method for delivering of a fluid to a site.

The article comprises a plastic support sheet carrying on one side thereof a layer of indium tin oxide, and superposed upon said layer, an antireflection layer. A light-polarizing element is affixed to the opposed side thereof. The contrast enhancement filter can be used for the reduction of specular glare from the surface of cathode ray tubes, computer display screens and the like.

Abstract: A gas regulation system is provided comprising a source of a breathable gas, a tube in communication with the source for delivering the breathable gas from the source to an individual, and a valve for controlling the rate of gas flow from the source to the individual for inhalation. A remote control unit for controlling the valve is also provided to allow the individual to adjust the rate of gas flow from the source through the tube to the individual independently from any inhalation activity by the individual. Abstract: A stainable polymeric sheet material adapted to the production of a light polarizer therefrom is provided by a method, according to which, a support sheet of amorphous polymeric material is uniaxially stretched in a first direction (at or above the glass transition temperature of the polymeric support material), a layer of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is coated from an aqueous PVA-containing composition onto the uniaxially stretched support material, and the PVA-coated uniaxially stretched polymeric sheet material is stretched along a second direction, at an angle within about .+-.60 degrees to a normal to the first direction of stretch. The method provides a material which can be converted, by incorporation of visible dichroism into the PVA layer, to a light polarizer which combines efficient light polarizing properties and good mechanical strength and resistance to fracture along the stretch directions.
