摘要： A yarn collecting bobbin comprising an elongated, tapered tube having a frusto-conical skirt affixed thereto is disclosed. The skirt encircles generally the base section of the bobbin, with a relatively short extension from the tube projecting beyond the lower end of the skirt. The skirt is firmly secured to the tube by any of several different techniques and is notched so as to entrain a yarn end adjacent thereto and commence winding of yarn on the bobbin.

摘要： An automatic yarn twisting or spinning and rewinding system has at least one spinning frame with opposite banks of spinning stations. A pair of tenders, one for each of the banks, is provided for patrolling the stations and servicing any of the stations requiring attention. Upon stopping at a station requiring servicing, the tender doffs the bobbin (supply unit) at the station and donns an empty bobbin and starts the strand winding onto the empty bobbin. Thus there is a continuous supply of filled bobbins. The filled bobbins are conveyed to a readier of a winding machine at an end of the spinning frame or frames and, responsive to demand of the winding machine, the filled bobbins are deposited in the readier where they are suitably processed and then delivered to winding stations of the winding machine. The system is regulated so that the winding machine continuously uses the filled bobbins at substantially the same rate at which they are doffed from the spinning frame. After the yarn on the bobbins has been wound onto packages the bobbins may be ejected from the winding machine and are transferred back to a tender which thereupon donns the empty bobbins, as required, at the spinning stations.

摘要： An apparatus and a method for readying filled supply bobbins for receipt by a winding machine. As each bobbin is delivered to the apparatus it is given a preliminary servicing and inspection, whereupon the bobbin is either rejected or further processed by having a tailing or inner end of the body of yarn severed and an unwinding or outer end of the yarn picked-up and formed into a bunch which is deposited by means of a ram in a hollow core of the bobbin for retention therein until subsequent retrieval at the winding machine. Next the bobbin is again inspected and either rejected or directed to the winding machine. The rejected bobbins may be deposited in a bin for manual inspection.

摘要： An automatic spinning system has at least one spinning frame with opposite banks of spinning stations. A tractor carries a tender capable of randomly servicing the spinning stations. The tractor is mounted for back and forth movement between opposite ends of a track above the banks of spinning stations. The tender is mounted on the tractor for swinging movement about the ends of the spinning frame from one of the banks of spinning stations to the other bank when the tractor is at either of the opposite ends of its track. Thus, the tender patrols the stations as it travels in one direction along a continuous path about the banks of spinning stations, and is capable of randomly servicing the spinning stations. Either a broken strand of yarn or a full bobbin at a station requiring servicing is sensed by operating mechanism for stopping the tender in servicing orientation with the station requiring servicing, whereupon the tender doffs the bobbin from the station spindle and donns an empty bobbin and starts the strand winding onto the empty bobbin. Empty bobbins are conveyed to the tender and filled bobbins are conveyed from the tender as they are doffed. If desired, the tender may be equipped with a system for ridding the spinning frame of lint.

摘要： A system is disclosed for automatically supplying filled bobbins to winding stations of a winder which is serviced by a patrolling tender. The tender carries apparatus for delivering filled supply bobbins to the winding stations, and has a knotter for uniting the unwinding end of a supply bobbin with the yarn end of a package being formed at the station. Responsive to the demand of the delivery apparatus for bobbins, a distributing conveyor provides it with readied supply bobbins from a source of supply. Either in timed succession, or responsive to a sensed demand of any winding station for a bobbin, or both, the delivery apparatus delivers a bobbin to a reserve bobbin position at the station, with the unwinding end of the bobbin positioned for retrieval by the knotter. After a bobbin is unwound at a station it is ejected from the station and the reserve bobbin is moved into the unwinding or active position as its unwinding end is united with the package end. The ejected bobbin is conveyed to a sorter system and if it still carries sufficient yarn, it may be returned to a winding station, as previously described. If the bobbin is substantially emptied of yarn, it is ejected from the system. The system can concurrently handle various types of bobbins and sort and deliver the bobbins to winding stations designated for handling a particular type of bobbin.
