摘要: A method of removing a sulfate scale from a surface is provided. The method includes contacting the sulfate-comprising scale with a conversion solution including 1 to 10 wt. % of an alkali metal carbonate, 0.5 to 10 wt. % of a borate salt or hydrate thereof, and 0.5 to 2.5 wt. % of a base to produce a carbonate-comprising scale. 摘要: A method for predicting formation permeability by measuring diffusional tortuosity in several directions by pulse gradient NMR. The method comprises evaluating an anisotropic diffusion coefficient by pulsed gradient NMR, determining diffusional tortuosity from the restricted diffusion data, supplementing the NMR results with resistivity and sonic logging data, measuring anisotropic tortuosity and porosity by resistivity and sonic data and combining all components in a single fitting model. The 11-coefficient model is trained to recognize the true values of permeability by comparing the real oil permeabilities measured. in a library of oil-carrying rock cores with the NMR, resistivity and sonic correlates The fitting coefficients are extracted by minimizing the discrepancy between the laboratory measured permeabilities and the predicted values combining all rapid logging information components with the agreement-maximizing weights.

The polyacrylamide contains reacted units of an acrylamide monomer, an acrylate monomer, and a hydrophobicity modifying monomer. Rheology properties of the drilling fluid including gel strength, yield stress, and storage modulus are specified. The additives present in the drilling fluid synergistically boost its shale swelling inhibition capability.

摘要: A method of evaluating the effectiveness of matrix acidizing treatment in a subterranean formation surrounding a wellbore that involves injecting a plurality of cationic salts into multiple sections of the subterranean formation before acidizing treatment, followed by collecting the cationic salts at the surface of the wellbore after producing the wellbore. A permeability recovery factor is calculated from a concentration ratio of the injected salt to the collected salt. The permeability recovery factor shows the effectiveness of the acidizing treatment. The permeability recovery factor also indicates the contribution of each individual section of the formation to the total production flow.

摘要: A method of removing iron-containing scale from a wellbore, pipe, or metal-containing surface involving contacting the iron-containing scale with a biodegradable descaler solution of water, hydrochloric acid, formic acid, citric acid, a corrosion inhibitor, a corrosion inhibitor intensifier, and a surfactant. The method is performed at a pressure of 14 to 400 psi and a temperature of 100 to 150° C. The method removes iron-containing scale made of iron sulfide, iron carbonate, iron oxyhydroxide, and calcium carbonate. The method meets industry standard steel corrosion rates of less than 0.049 lb/ft2 per day. Also disclosed is a biodegradable descaler solution of water, hydrochloric acid, formic acid, citric acid, a corrosion inhibitor, a corrosion inhibitor intensifier, and a surfactant that meets OECD 301B thresholds for ready biodegradability.

摘要: A method of removing a heterogeneous scale from a surface in fluid communication with a wellbore and/or subterranean formation comprising contacting the scale with a composition comprising tetrakis(hydroxmethyl)phosphonium sulfate (THPS) and N-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediaminetriacetic acid (THEDTA) to dissolve the scale having a pH in the range of about 6.0 to 8.0. The composition is suitable to remove iron sulfide and calcium carbonate scale in the absence of corrosion resistance at a temperature up to about 150° C. Also, the composition may be used remove scale from surface pipe line and other petroleum oil handling equipment.

摘要: A well cleanup process involves removing an impermeable filter cake from a formation face with thermochemical and chelating agents to allow formation fluids to flow from a reservoir to a wellbore. The method may be used with oil and water-based drilling fluids with varied weighting agents, e.g., bentonite, calcium carbonate, or barite. Such thermochemical agents may involve two salts, e.g., NO2− and NH4+, which, when mixed together, can generate pressure and heat, in addition to hot H2O and/or N2. For example, the thermochemical agents may comprise Na+, K+, Li+, Cs+, Mg2+, Ca2+, and/or Ba2+ with NO2− and NH4+ with F−, Cl−, Br−, I−, CO32−, NO3−, ClO4−, and/or −OH. The thermochemical agents in combination with a chelator such as EDTA can removed the filter cake after 6 hours with a removal efficiency of 89 wt % for the barite filter cake in water based drilling fluid, exploiting the generation of a pressure pulse and heat which may disturb the filter cake and/or enhance barite dissolution and polymer degradation.
