    Abstract: A detecting unit detects any image area corresponding to a subject from the first image which is reduced resolution of an image that captured by an image capturing unit. With no image area detected as corresponding to the subject, a first control unit deems that an image area corresponding to the subject is absent in the image that captured by the image capturing unit. On the other hand, when the detecting unit detects an image area corresponding to the subject, a first determining unit determines whether or not the image area that detected by the detecting unit is an image area corresponding to the subject. If the area is determined to correspond to the subject, a second control unit deems that an image area corresponding to the subject is present in the image that captured by the image capturing unit.
