Abstract: According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes an air bearing surface, a first surface on which contact pads connected to elements are provided, a pair of second surfaces provided respectively with a connection terminal connected to the contact pad, a main pole with a distal end portion extending to the air bearing surface, a write shield opposing the distal end portion of the main pole with a write gap therebetween, and a high-frequency oscillator provided between the main pole and the write shield within the write gap and electrically connected to the main pole and the write shield. The high-frequency oscillator includes a spin injection layer and an oscillation layer, and at least the oscillation layer is recessed in a direction away from the air bearing surface.

The magnetic head includes a magnetic pole, a light emitting unit, and a distance adjusting unit. The magnetic pole includes a soft magnetic material. The light emitting unit is arranged with respect to the magnetic pole in a travel direction of the magnetic head, and emits light with respect to the recording layer. The distance adjusting unit adjusts a distance between the magnetic pole and the light emitting unit.

Abstract: A magnetic recording head includes a main magnetic pole that generates a recording magnetic field in a direction perpendicular to a recording layer, a write shield with a surface that faces a trailing side of the main magnetic pole, so that a write gap is interposed between the surface and the main magnetic pole, the write shield forming a magnetic core together with the main magnetic pole, a recording coil, a high frequency oscillator within the write gap, a wiring through which a current can flow through the main magnetic pole, the high frequency oscillator, and the write shield in series, and a magnetic element made of soft magnetic material, positioned within the write gap and separated from the high frequency oscillator, and configured to form a magnetic path passing through the main magnetic pole, the magnetic element, and the write shield, and not through the high frequency oscillator.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording head of a disk drive includes a main pole configured to generate a magnetic field in a direction perpendicular to a recording layer of a recording medium, a write shield magnetic pole opposite to a trailing side of the main pole with a gap, a coil configured to excite a magnetic flux in a magnetic circuit, and a high-frequency oscillator provided between a tip portion of the main pole on a side of the recording medium and the write shield magnetic pole to generate a high-frequency magnetic field. The write shield magnetic pole includes an end face opposite to the high-frequency oscillator and the end face is formed so that a distance from the main pole increases with an increasing distance from the recording medium.
