Abstract: According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording device includes a magnetic head, and an electrical circuit. The magnetic head includes a magnetic pole, a first shield, and a stacked body provided between the magnetic pole and the first shield. The stacked body includes a first magnetic layer, a second magnetic layer, a first layer provided between the first and second magnetic layers, and a first nonmagnetic layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the first layer. A change rate of an electrical resistance of the stacked body with respect to a change of a current density flowing in the stacked body has a first value when the current density is in a first range, a second value when the current density is in a second range, and a third value when the current density is in a third range.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes a recording portion. The recording portion includes a magnetic pole, a shield, and a stacked body provided between the magnetic pole and the shield. The stacked body includes a first magnetic layer, a first layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the magnetic pole, and a first intermediate layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the shield. The first layer contacts the magnetic pole and includes at least one selected from the group consisting of IrMn, PtMn, FeMn, PdMn, NiMn, RhMn, MnCr, and PtCr. The first intermediate layer includes at least one selected from a first group consisting of Cu, Ag, Au, Al, Cr, and Ru.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes a shield, a magnetic pole, a first magnetic layer provided between the shield and the magnetic pole, a second magnetic layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the magnetic pole, a third magnetic layer provided between the second magnetic layer and the magnetic pole, a first nonmagnetic layer provided between the shield and the first magnetic layer, a second nonmagnetic layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic layer, a third nonmagnetic layer provided between the second magnetic layer and the third magnetic layer, and a fourth nonmagnetic layer provided between the third magnetic layer and the magnetic pole. The first and third nonmagnetic layers include one of Cu, Ag, Au, Al, and Ti. The second and fourth nonmagnetic layers include one of Ta, Pt, Ir, W, Mo, Cr, Tb, Rh, Pd, and Ru.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes a magnetic pole, a first shield, and a stacked body. The stacked body is provided between the magnetic pole and the first shield. The stacked body includes a magnetic layer including at least one selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co, and Ni, a first conductive layer provided between the magnetic pole and the magnetic layer, the first conductive layer being nonmagnetic, and a second conductive layer provided between the magnetic layer and the first shield, the second conductive layer being nonmagnetic. The first conductive layer includes Ir. A thickness of the first conductive layer along a first direction is not less than 0.3 nm and not more than 0.8 nm. The first direction is from the first conductive layer toward the second conductive layer.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording device includes a magnetic head, a first circuit, and a second circuit. The magnetic head includes a magnetic pole, a first shield, a stacked body provided between the magnetic pole and the first shield, a first terminal electrically connected to the magnetic pole, a second terminal electrically connected to the first shield, and a coil. The first circuit is electrically connected to the first terminal and the second terminal. The second circuit is electrically connected to the coil. The first circuit performs at least a first operation. In the first operation, the first circuit supplies a first current to a current path between the first and second terminals when the second circuit supplies a recording current to the coil. The first current is smaller than a second current. The second current causes an electrical resistance of the current path to oscillate.

The stacked body includes a first magnetic layer, a second magnetic layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the magnetic pole, and a non-magnetic intermediate layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic layer. The first non-magnetic layer is provided between the second magnetic layer and the magnetic pole, and contacts the magnetic pole and the second magnetic layer. The first magnetic layer has a first thickness and a first saturation magnetic flux density. The second magnetic layer has a second thickness and a second saturation magnetic flux density. A second product of the second thickness and the second saturation magnetic flux density is larger than a first product of the first thickness and the first saturation magnetic flux density.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device conforming to perpendicular magnetic recording includes a magnetic disk, a recording head, and a controller. The head includes a main magnetic pole, a return magnetic pole, a recording coil, and a conductive member in which end surfaces are connected to opposed surfaces of a write gap which is opposed to a distal portion of the main magnetic pole and a distal portion of the return magnetic pole, and a resistance value varies. The controller applies a current to the recording coil to excite the magnetic flux in the recording operation, and applies a current at a constant voltage to the magnetic circuit via the comductive member.
