Abstract: The invention relates to a method of operating a textile treatment device comprising a heatable soleplate intended to be in contact with a textile for treating the textile. The method comprises a first step (1001) of setting a first temperature target for the heatable soleplate, and a step (1002) of detecting movement of said textile treatment device. If the step (1002) of 5 detecting movement did not detect any movement of said textile treatment device during more than a given first time duration, a step (1004) of actively decreasing the temperature of the heatable soleplate (4) up to reaching a first given temperature having a value below said first temperature target.

Abstract: The present application relates to apparatus for generating steam. It comprises a water inlet, a evaporation surface, and a heater disposed adjacent to the evaporation surface to heat the evaporation surface to a predetermined temperature such that water fed onto the evaporation surface via the water inlet forms a film on the evaporation surface and is evaporated. The apparatus is configured so that water is fed to one or more regions of the evaporation surface, and the temperature of the water fed onto the evaporation surface is lower than the predetermined temperature, so that scale on the or each region of the evaporation surface to which water is fed cools at a different rate at which water on a remainder of the evaporation surface cools. This causes scale on the evaporation surface to break apart and be dislodged from the evaporation surface.

Abstract: The present application relates to apparatus for generating steam. The apparatus comprises an evaporation surface (24), a heater (26) disposed adjacent to the evaporation surface to heat the evaporation surface, a water inlet (19) positioned relative to the evaporation surface so that water is fed onto the evaporation surface from the water inlet and forms a film on the evaporation surface such that the film is evaporated from the evaporation surface, and a scale collection region (23) positioned such that, during use of the apparatus, scale dislodged from the evaporation surface falls away from the evaporation surface into the scale collection region. The apparatus is configured so that the flow of water through the water inlet (19) and onto the evaporation surface (24) is controlled in dependence on the temperature of the evaporation surface (24) so that substantially all the water fed onto the evaporation surface is evaporated from the evaporation surface without flowing from the evaporation surface into the scale collection region (23).

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for generating steam. The device comprises a water outlet arrangement having an open end to spray water onto a water receiving arrangement. The water receiving arrangement comprises an interior surface defining a chamber in which the open end is arranged so that water sprayed from the open end is sprayed onto the interior surface. The device further comprises a heating element for heating the interior surface up to a temperature for generating steam from water sprayed on the interior surface. The interior surface is formed by two separate cavities, the open end comprising a spray nozzle received within each cavity so that each spray nozzle sprays water onto a region of the interior surface, each region being defined by the cavity in which a respective spray nozzle is received. This allows the water sprayed by the water outlet arrangement be more uniformly spread on the interior surface, leading to more effective heating and more steam may be generated per unit time.

Abstract: The invention relates to a portable device (1100) comprising a bottom surface (BS) intended to be in contact with a textile (TXT). The portable device comprises an image sensor (5) for taking an image of a textile, and an illumination system (6) for illuminating a portion of the textile when said image is being taken.
