摘要:
A stem for a femoral hip-joint endoprosthesis comprises a shaft which is substantially rectangular in cross section, with a distal and a proximal end. The distal end tapers substantially conically and the proximal end (16) comprises an insertion means and an extraction means for the insertion and for the extraction of the stem into a marrow space of a femur. A cone is provided to receive a joint ball, the cone being connected to the proximal end of the shaft by way of a neck. The insertion means and the extraction means at the proximal end of the shaft are positioned substantially on the median long axis of the stem so that force transmission during insertion and extraction is coaxial.

A metal fixation element is disclosed for receiving a plastic socket component of an artificial hip joint. The fixation element includes a frontal region which faces the pelvic bone. The frontal region has a central bore, with a screw thread to receive an insertion tool. The element also includes at least one conically tapering wall spaced from the frontal region. A self-tapping screw thread on the outer surface of the tapering wall provides for cementless fixation of the element in the pelvic bone. There is further provided an additional conically tapering wall between the frontal region and the first conically tapering wall. Three apertures are located in the frontal region. A cover element is rotatably mounted within the fixation element closely abutting the frontal region. The cover element has three equally spaced openings separated by continuous positions for selective opening and closing of the three apertures in the frontal region.

The outer shell possesses openings in the polar or apical region which serve to backfill the implanted shell with spongious bone material. The openings are separated by a web which extends through the axis of symmetry of the outer shell and which has a threaded bore to receive an insertion instrument. The instrument is centrally guided on an axial direction to facilitate control and alignment of the outer shell during insertion, especially in the case of outer shells to be screwed in with a self-cutting thread.
