Abstract:
A system and method for transmitting alert tone information among communicating wireless devices to identify a speaker in a push-to-talk system. A predefined set of alert tones is stored in a wireless device, and when a user presses a push-to-talk button on the wireless device, the wireless device displays a list of predefined alert tones to the user to select. After the user selects an alert tone, the wireless device transmits an alert tone code associated with the selected alert tone to a server for relaying to every wireless device in a push-to-talk communication group. When a receiving wireless device receives the alert tone code, it retrieves an alert tone corresponding to the alert tone code from the predefined set and plays the alert tone to the user of the wireless device.
Abstract:
An adaptive user interface device capable of implementing multiple modes of input and configuration may adapt to current user inputs, and may include configuration changes. In an aspect, an adaptive user interface device may be configured for a finger sensing in a touchpad mode, and configured for stylus sensing in a digital tablet mode. In another aspect, surface features of the adaptive user interface device may change shape, such as by raising buttons in response to entering a keyboard or keypad mode. Various mechanisms may be used for raising buttons, and may enable presenting buttons in a variety of shapes and locations on the interface. The configuration of the adaptive user interface device may depend upon the user actions and user identity. Configuration modes may be organized according to many levels enabling a single user interface to support a large number of input options functionality within a limited surface area.

Abstract:
A system and method for transmitting video and audio information among communicating wireless devices during a video conference in a wireless communications system. The audio information from all participants is received by a server, which selects a speaker among the participants. The speaker's audio and video data are transmitted to all participants according to a predefined criteria.
Abstract:
A method of constructing a position sensitive screensaver on a mobile device comprises acquiring a position for the mobile device, reporting the position, receiving information for selected information categories based on the reported position, and displaying the received information on the mobile device, when the mobile device is idle. The subscriber can preferably control where and how the information is displayed so that the user has relevant information based on where the subscriber is located.
Abstract:
A system and method for creating an ad hoc communications group in a push-to-talk (PTT) system. A user may create an ad hoc group for a PTT communications by selecting members from different sources in a wireless communications device. The user may select members from a caller identification list, a recent call list, or a contact list. The ad hoc communications group thus composed is sent to a server and the server will then set up a PTT communications among the members of this ad hoc group.
Abstract:
Apparatus, methods, computer readable media and processors operable on a wireless device may manage video calls on a wireless device. A video call management method may include a video call management application operable on the wireless device. The video call management application may be configured with a filtering parameter, which may be applied to a received video call to determine a manner of processing the video call. Based on the filtering, the video call may be processed in any number of predetermined and/or user-defined manners. Further, information relating to the incoming video call may be stored into a call log viewable by the user.
Abstract:
A system and method that transmits and displays graphical images among wireless devices in a push-to-talk system A predefined set of graphical images is stored in a wireless device, and when a user presses a push-to-talk button on the wireless device, the wireless device displays a list of predefined images to the user to select. After the user selects an image, the wireless device transmits an image code associated with the selected image to a server for relaying to every wireless device in a push-to-talk communication group. When a receiving wireless device receives the image code, it retrieves an image corresponding to the image code from the predefined set and displays the image to the user of the wireless device.
