Abstract:
Apparatus for holding a medical bag, such a catheter or drip bag, is generally depicted at (1), and comprises a first lower component (2), second upper component (5), indicator means (12) and attachment means for the medical bag (8). The upper component is adapted to move relative to the lower component as the contents of the catheter or drip bag increase or decrease, and this activates the indicator means which acts as a warning that the contents of the bag require emptying or changing.
Abstract:
It is a first aspect of the present invention to provide a method of procuring medical components and/or services that includes the steps of: (a) forming a consortium, the consortium having members including at least physician owners and hospital members; (b) evaluating by the consortium a first plurality of manufacturers of products in a relevant product category; (c) determining by the consortium a second plurality of the manufacturers as being clinically acceptable, the determining step being based on the results of the evaluating step; (d) soliciting bids by the consortium from each of the clinically acceptable manufacturers; (e) selecting by the consortium at least one of the clinically acceptable manufacturers to be a preferred supplier of products in the relevant product category; and (f) forming a supplier agreement with each supplier selected in step (e) pursuant to the bid submitted by that supplier.
Abstract:
A wind sail receptor for turning in a wind or flow of water, turning an axle that operates a power generator device that produces a power output for performing work or provides for passing that power output to a storage arrangement. The wind sail receptor preferably includes, from six to ten identical, equally spaced blades between a rear hub and a forward disk, with the rear hub and forward disk connected to an axle that is mounted to a frame through bearings, allowing the wind sail receptor to turn freely when it is pointed into a wind or water flow. Which wind sail receptor blades are formed from two sections of three to five equal spaced blades, and each section is formed from a single flat section of a stiff material, wherefrom radial sections have been removed to form the individual blades that are equal spaced around a hub, and which section hubs are fitted to one another and the blades bent into like curves, and outer blade ends are secured, at equal spaced intervals to a forward disk, forming the wind sail receptor.
Abstract:
A system for golf data collection comprises an apparatus arranged to be worn about the body of a golfer during a game of golf. The apparatus includes a positioning system for determining various locations of a golfer during the game, a tag reader for reading a club held in close proximity to the apparatus around the time of striking a golf ball, and a processor for correlating the location of the golfer with the time at which a tag is read to enable the path of a golf ball throughout the game of golf to be determined.
Abstract:
Apparatus for opening the covers on jars including means for positioning and stationing the jar. Means for clamping the cover in the positioned jar and means for gripping the cover periphery and rotating the gripping means are provided to rotate the cover to an opened position while the jar is positioned and stationed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for increasing the efficacy of antifolates which act via inhibition of dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR). The method comprises the steps of administration of 5-amino-4-imidazolecarboxamide riboside (Z) or its base with the antifolate such that the targeted cells are exposed to both the antifolate and Z simultaneously. This results in increased influx of the antifolate. For MTX, accumulation of the more biologically active polyglutamate forms is also potentiated. This potentiation appears to be mediated by an effect on the RFC.
Abstract:
A stringed instrument including a body having a front surface and a rear surface, a tuning mechanism, a neck having one end joined to the body and an opposite end retaining the tuning mechanism, and a retainer block encompassed by the rear surface. A plurality of strings each have a first end secured to the tuning mechanism and a second end retained by the retainer block. Also included is a bridge system having a tailpiece mounted on the front surface and defining a plurality of holes each providing passage for one of the strings, and a connector assembly extending through the body and securing the tailpiece to the retainer block.
