Abstract:
A garment hanger (10) has at least one arm (12) connected to a suspension portion (11). The garment hanger has a first moulded portion (20), forming a first proportion of the at least one arm and suspension portion, mated and joined to at least a second moulded portion (40), forming a remaining second proportion of the at least one arm and suspension portion, to form a hollow, enclosed monocoque structure. The garment hanger may be provided with fingers (830) to which loops or straps of a garment may be attached to suspend the garment from the garment hanger thereby. Alternatively, or in addition, the monocoque garment hanger may include engagement means (730) for engaging a suspension hook of a further garment hanger such that the further garment hanger may be suspended from the monocoque garment hanger.
Abstract:
A thin-film bulk acoustic wave delay line device providing true-time delays and a method of fabricating same. An exemplary device can comprise several thin-film layers including thin-film transducer layers, thin-film delay layers, and stacks of additional thin-film materials providing acoustic reflectors and matching networks. The layer material selection and layer thicknesses can be controlled to improve impedance matching between transducers and the various delay line materials. For example, the transducer layers and delay layers can comprise piezoelectric and amorphous forms of the same material. The layers can be deposited on a carrier substrate using standard techniques. The device can be configured so that mechanical waves propagate solely within the thin films, providing a substrate-independent device. The device, so constructed, can be of a small size, e.g. 40 μm per side, and capable of handling high power levels, potentially up to 20 dBm, with low insertion loss of approximately 3 dB.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a method, device, and system for a microelectromechanical (MEM) device control system that can control the operation of a MEM device. The system can include a microelectromechanical device and a control circuit. The micromechanical device can include a moveable member coupled to an electrical terminal, a sensor, responsive to a movement of the moveable member, can output a sensor signal based on the movement of the moveable member, and an actuating electrode for receiving a control signal. The control circuit can be responsive to the signals output by the sensor and outputs the control signal to the actuating electrode.

Abstract:
A pulsation dampener for receiving a fluid medium containing pressure pulsations. The pulsation dampener can include a body having an inner surface, an inlet, and an outlet, and a fluid path defined at least partially by the inner surface of the body. The fluid path can include a first chamber in fluid communication with the inlet and having a first cross-sectional area, a second chamber positioned adjacent the first chamber and having a second cross-sectional area different from the first cross-sectional area, and a third chamber in fluid communication with the outlet and positioned adjacent the second chamber opposite the first chamber and having a third cross-sectional area different from the second cross-sectional area. The fluid path can be configured such that the second cross-sectional area is greater than the first cross-sectional area and the third cross-sectional area.
Abstract:
An apparatus for stimulating healing of a wound, includes a porous pad adapted to contact a surface of the wound on an affected part of a body. An envelope for receiving the porous pad and the affected part of the body is provided, and the envelope includes a re-sealable opening that permits the wound to be inspected. A connector is fluidly connected to an interior of the envelope and to a source of negative pressure.
Abstract:
A security system and method of providing security in a retail environment or the like, comprising shopping trolleys associated with the retail enviroment fitted with security devices having a receive-only wireless receiver and a processor. The receiver receiving wireless signals transmitted from one or more transmitters located at various locations around the retail enviroment. By analyzing the wireless signals as it passes thereby, the processor of the security device may determine a location and/or a direction of travel of a shopping trolley to which it is fitted. In addition, an alarm signal may be raised if a predetermined signal or sequence of signals is detected.
Abstract:
A flashlight having a lamp, a power storage element, a switch, and an electronic controller. The controller has a switch input connected to the switch and operates in response to the input to deliver power from the power storage element to the lamp. The controller may be directly connected to each of the lamp, source, and switch. The switch may include several separate contact elements operating sequentially in response to movement of a switch actuator. The controller may provide different illumination levels and functions in response to different pressures and durations of actuation. The flashlight may include a dimmer level control to establish an intermediate “dimmed” output level, and operate to provide the selected dimmed output when the switch is depressed by an intermediate amount, and to provide a greater maximum output level in response to full actuation of the switch.
Abstract:
The invention is a system that reviews, approves, and implements updates to a primary database that houses a business's chargeable items. A duplicate database has a duplicate of each data entry in the primary database. Prior to implementation, the update is reviewed for compliance with regulatory and local standards and preapproved updates by using the duplicate database as a point of reference. The management service may revise the update before implementing the update into the primary database. Preferably any update that is implemented into the primary database is validated to confirm that the implemented update matches the approved update.
Abstract:
A chopped charge pump with matching up and down pulses including a first pair of current sources, a second pair of current sources, and a switching circuit for switching on in a first phase one current source of each pair to provide up current pulses, and the other current source of each pair to provide down current pulses, and switching on in a second phase the other current source of each pair to provide up current pulses, and the one current source of each pair to provide down current pulses to offset error in the current response of the pairs of current sources.
