Abstract:
Techniques are described herein for generating and managing Web applications. Embodiments include receiving organized data and analyzing the organized data to determine one or more data types contained in the organized data. Based on the one or more data types, suggested widgets are determined, including determining whether a particular data type can be split into two or more data types and suggesting widgets for each split data type. The suggested widgets are presented to a user, and in response to user input accepting the suggested widgets, a Web application comprising the suggested widgets is generated.
Abstract:
An approach is provided for managing processing rules used to process electronic data in computer networks. An application provides the capability for users to define and manage classifications for electronic data. The application also provides the capability for users to define and manage processing rules for each classification. This may include specifying, for each processing rule, a classification to which the processing rule corresponds, one or more conditions under which the processing rule is to be applied and optionally, not applied, a priority for the processing rule, and one or more actions to be performed. The priority may be used to determine which rule is to be applied when more than one rule corresponds to a classification. The application supports the definition and management of classifications and rules on a logical group-by-logical group basis.
Abstract:
A printing device configuration application, referred to herein as a “mass deployment tool,” provides the capability to configure a large number of printing devices for cloud printing, in accordance with specific requirements of a cloud print service. The mass deployment tool deploys and installs a cloud print configuration application to a plurality of printing devices. The mass deployment tool transmits registration settings data to the cloud print configuration applications and causes the cloud print configuration applications to register their corresponding printing device with the cloud print service. The mass deployment tool receives and stores identification data that specifies a unique identification issued by the cloud print service for each of the printing devices. The mass deployment tool may be configured to provide a graphical user interface that allows a user to specify and manage the registration settings, general settings used to install the cloud print configuration applications, and sharing settings.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided for acquiring document data from additional input sources to a DSM system. In an embodiment, a DSM computing device includes a remote image receiver service configured to connect to a remote image source via a network connection, receive configuration information and image data from the remote image source, and determine post scan processing instructions based, at least in part, on the configuration information. In another embodiment, a DSM computing device includes an input selection service configured to identify one or more input sources available at the computing device, receive input source information identifying a particular input source of the one or more input sources, receive image information identifying the particular image data residing on the particular input source, retrieve the particular image data from the particular input source, and make the particular image data available to a distributed scan management service.
Abstract:
Approaches are provided for processing scan data based on a scan process definition (SPD) that defines a set of instructions for acquiring image data based on one or more printed documents. An SPD may include extension data that is used to store additional data in association with the scan data. An SPD may include rights management data that is used to provide security to the scan data that is generated based on the SPD. An SPD may be used as a print process definition for dictating how print operations are to be performed. An SPD may be associated with data that identifies one or more scan devices that are prohibited from using the SPD. An SPD may be associated with access delegation data that indicates one or more users who have been delegated access to the SPD.
Abstract:
An approach is provided for retrieving electronic documents. The approach provides a Web-based graphical user interface that allows users to construct complex queries that include Boolean clauses, proximity clauses and/or keyword phrases, without requiring the users to have a working knowledge of query languages. The Web-based graphical user interface also allows users to specify a semantic meaning for one or more search terms. The approach also allows users to generate various reports for search results. Various filters may be applied to manage the amount of reporting data and semantic meanings may be applied to increase relevancy. A time cost estimator provides an estimated review time for search results.
Abstract:
Techniques and systems for maintaining a secure document replication environment based on information contained in CACs are disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, a device such as an MFP, a printer, a scanner, a copier, or a fax machine comprises or is connected to a card reader. The device prevents users from using the device until the users have been authenticated. In order to authenticate himself to the device, a user inserts his CAC into the card reader. The device reads the user's digital certificate off of the user's CAC. The device determines whether the digital certificate is valid. If the digital certificate is not valid, then, in one embodiment of the invention, the device prevents the user from using any of the device's functions (e.g., printing, scanning, copying, faxing, etc.).

Also included are approaches for using the results of simple searches to perform advanced searches, for estimating the cost and/or time for reviewing search results and for performing tagging analysis and for using logical custodians.
