Abstract: A composite prosthesis and method for limiting the incidence of postoperative adhesions. The composite includes a non-inflammatory or coated mesh and a barrier material which prevents exposure of tissue elsewhere in the body to tissue covered by the composite prosthesis. The barrier material is absorbable which allows tissue through-growth and localization of the composite prosthetic. In use, the composite prosthesis is positioned over the tissue defect and may be positioned with the barrier material oriented against the tissue defect or repair site.

Abstract: A truck mountable kayak loader and carrier including a support frame having a front frame, a back frame, and a pair of side rails. Rotatably affixed to the back frame is a kayak support structure having a pair of telescoping rails, with a winch support structure secured at and between one of the ends of the telescoping rails and a pull bar secured at and between the other ends of the telescoping rails. A telescoping cylinder is provided to raise and lower the front end of the kayak support structure relative to the support frame, and a winch system is provided to pull the kayak onto the kayak support system. Also provide is a kayak support structure for mounting on a carrier or storage structure. Further, methods of loading a kayak onto a truck or kayak support structure are provided, using the disclosed technology.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for treating a defect in a spinal disc nuclear space, comprising: (a) creating an opening by open, percutaneous or laparoscopic techniques to access the defect in the nuclear space; (b) removing a desired amount of tissue from the nuclear space; (c) positioning a delivery catheter through the opening; (d) fluidically isolating the nuclear space by blocking the opening with a blocking component of the catheter; (e) delivering an in-situ curable liquid material through a lumen of the catheter to the nuclear space; and (f) maintaining the isolating until the liquid material has cured. Also disclosed are treatment systems and materials for prostheses.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for chilling beverages in containers. The apparatus includes a tubular body having a first opening, a second opening, an inner surface and an outer surface. The first opening, the inner surface and the second opening cooperate to define a passage through the tubular body for receiving a beverage container. The inner surface and outer surface of the tubular body are formed of and defined by a continuous film of flexible material. A non-gaseous temperature-retaining fluid is received between the inner surface and the outer surface of the tubular body. The apparatus is pre-chilled prior to use, and then is rolled onto the beverage container such that the beverage container is received within the passage through the tubular body to rapidly chill the beverage to a desired serving temperature.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for ligating tissue is disclosed. The applicator utilizes a jaw portion having jaw members with jaw faces to grasp tissue and operating portions to apply a surgical clip. In a presently preferred embodiment, the surgical clip utilized is a self-closing clip. Operating faces in the operating portion of the jaw members separate the clip from the tissue prior to clip installation. The applicator has a channel in the operating portion for user viewing which also may allow for lateral displacement of a clip external to the jaw faces.
