Abstract: A method and processing system for generating a workflow graph from empirical data of a process are described. Data for multiple instances of a process are obtained, the data including information about task ordering. The processing system analyzes occurrences of tasks to identify order constraints. A set of nodes representing tasks is partitioned into a series of subsets, where no node of a given subset is constrained to precede any other node of the given subset unless said pair of nodes are conditionally independent given one or more nodes in an immediately preceding subset, and such that no node of a following subset is constrained to precede any node of the given subset. Nodes of each subset are connected to nodes of each adjacent subset with edges based upon the order constraints and based upon conditional independence tests applied to subsets of nodes, thereby providing a workflow graph.

Abstract: An information need can be modeled by a binary classifier such as support vector machine (SVM). SVMs can exhibit very conservative precision oriented behavior when modeling information needs. This conservative behavior can be overcome by adjusting the position of the hyperplane, the geometric representation of a SVM. The present invention describes a couple of automatic techniques for adjusting the position of an SVM model based upon a beta-gamma thresholding procedure, cross fold validation and retrofitting. This adjustment technique can also be applied to other types of learning strategies.

Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for allocation of digital media over communication networks. A bidding platform for digital advertising manages multichannel buying of digital media using impression-level decisioning based on multiple parameters and data sources. When a request for an ad is received from a publisher or other supply side entity, such as an ad exchange or supply side platform, an expected value of the advertisement impression to each advertiser is calculated, in some cases, in real time, on behalf of the advertiser using media-buying rules. An ad having a highest expected value is selected, and the bidding platform responds to the ad request with a bid and the selected ad, and serves the winning ad if bid response wins the publisher side auction, resulting in an ad impression for the winning ad. User interactions with the ad are recorded and leveraged to optimize further the media buying rules.

Abstract: A method of synchronizing static or dynamic dissimilar output sampling rates of multiple outputs of an integrated switching amplifier uses the step of synchronizing dissimilar static or dynamic sampling rates of multiple outputs to yield improved sonic quality, higher efficiency, lower EMI or other benefits. According to the preferred embodiment, the synchronizing is carried out with respect to pulse leading edges.

Abstract: A computer-readable medium comprises data structure for providing information about levels of similarity between pairs of N documents. The data structure comprises a plurality of entries of similarity values representing levels of similarity for a plurality of pairs of the documents. Each of the similarity values represents a level of similarity of one document of a given pair relative to the other document of the given pair. The similarity value of each entry is greater than a threshold similarity value that is greater than zero. The plurality of similarity-value entries are fewer than N2−N in number if the similarity values are asymmetric with regard to document pairing, and the plurality of similarity-value entries are fewer than N 2 - N 2 in number if the similarity values are symmetric with regard to document pairing. A method and apparatus for generating the data structure are described.

Abstract: A digitally readable identifier located proximate to a physical object communicates a personality identifier. The personality identifier is automatically or manually associated with document content. The personality identifier is automatically associated with document content using context information that identifies the place of a physical object and/or the time the personality identifier is communicated. Once the personality identifier is associated with document content, a meta-document server enriches the document content in accordance with a predefined thematic set of document services identified by the personality identifier.
