    Abstract: A submerged arc welded joint having a weld metal formed by performing submerged arc welding with a heat input of 300 kJ/cm or more. The joint has a weld metal having a specified chemical composition, specified yield strength, and specified tensile strength. The weld metal has a specified absorbed energy vE0, as measured by a V-notch Charpy impact test performed at a testing temperature of 0° C. Ceq is in a range of 0.65 to 1.00, and a is 6.0 or less, as expressed by the equations below.

    Ceq=[C]+0.17[Mn]+0.04[Si]+0.025[Ni]+0.2[Cr]+0.25[Mo]  (1)

    α=30[C]+0.7[Mn]+[Ni]−([Si]+0.5[Cr]+1.5[Mo])  (2)

    Here, in the equation (1) and the equation (2), the expression “[element symbol]” denotes a content (mass %) of the corresponding element in the weld metal described above.

    Abstract: Provided is a weld joint having high strength and excellent hot crack resistance and low-temperature toughness. High Ni steel plates containing 6.5 mass % to 10.0 mass % of Ni are welded to form a weld metal to obtain a weld joint. The weld metal has a chemical composition containing Mn: 13.0% to 25.0%, Cr: 3.8% or less, Ni: 1.0% to 12.0%, Mo: 0.1% to 5.0%, N: % or less, and O: 0.100% or less, and the strength of the weld metal is adjusted so that the yield strength BYS of each steel plate and the 0.2% proof stress WPS of the weld metal satisfy

    [WPS]≤[BYS]−100 MPa  (1)

    and the tensile strength BTS of the steel plate and the tensile strength WTS of the weld metal satisfy

    [WTS]≤[BTS]+100 MPa  (2).

    Abstract: Provided is a submerged arc welding method that produces little fume, has good weldability, and is suitable for welding high-Mn-containing steel materials to be used in cryogenic environments. The method includes welding with a combination of a wire having a predetermined chemical composition and flux having a basicity [BL] of 1.5 to 2.4, while adjusting a welding heat input according to a groove cross-sectional area. In this way, a weld metal with high strength and excellent cryogenic impact toughness where the 0.2% proof stress at room temperature is 400 MPa or more and an absorbed energy (vE−196) in the Charpy impact test is 28 J or more can be easily manufactured.
