Abstract: A check digit verifying/generating system is capable of operation in a simple verifying mode using a set of predetermined weighted values and modulus. An element of universal application is afforded by an extended mode of operation in which a selected one of a number of sets of weighting values and a selected modulus is provided for dealing with input signals.
