Abstract:
A system for displaying N multimedia streams, including multiple pairs of viewing spectacles and a displaying medium. The system obtains N multimedia streams, each stream including two multimedia substreams among 2×N multimedia substreams, and has N sources generating the 2×N substreams on the displaying medium. Each source has an encoder for coding two of the 2×N multimedia substreams, each substream being coded with a set of N coding modes each using a specific set of at least two states, having at least 2N possible combinations of states, each substream being coded with one of the possible combinations of states in order to visualize a given stream from the N multimedia stream. At least one pair spectacles includes a decoder for decoding, for each eyepiece, one of the substreams of the given stream and having N decoding modes corresponding to the N coding modes used for coding the substreams.
Abstract:
A material is proposed for making an electro-optical shutter device. The material includes a host nematic liquid crystal, at least one guest chiral dopant and one guest black dichroic dye. The birefringence (Δn) of the host nematic liquid crystal is greater than 0.20. The concentration of the at least one chiral dopant is adjusted so that the material has a pitch in the range of 500 nm to 800 nm. The concentration of the guest black dichroic dye ranges from 2% to 4% by weight of the material. The dichroic ratio of the guest black dichroic dye is greater than or equal to 8.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a reflecting cell including at least two substrates covered by an electrode and facing each other, the substrates delimiting between them a volume which separates them and which is filled with a cholesteric liquid crystal-type material, both electrodes being intended to be connected to a voltage source. This cell includes at least one half-wave plate arranged between both substrates and dividing the volume into two compartments, each enclosing a part of a same cholesteric liquid crystal.
Abstract:
A reflecting cell including at least two substrates each covered by an electrode and facing each other, the substrates delimitating between them a volume which separates them and which is filled with a bistable liquid crystal-type material with a threshold field, for example a cholesteric liquid crystal, both electrodes being intended to be connected to a voltage source. This cell is characterized in that at least one of the electrodes is formed by associating a pattern, which does not entirely cover the surface of the substrate considered, and a conducting layer which covers the surface of the substrate considered, the conductivity of the material of the layer being lower than that of the material of the pattern.
