    Abstract: A communication method and apparatus are provided. UE may obtain first information, where the first information is used for scheduling the UE for performing first transmission on a first uplink carrier, the first transmission is N-port transmission, and N is a positive integer. The UE may further perform the first transmission on the first uplink carrier, where when the first transmission is performed, a quantity of ports supported by the UE for uplink transmission on the first uplink carrier is M, and M is determined based on second information of at least one uplink carrier of the UE. This helps a base station and the UE have a consistent understanding of a state after the UE performs radio frequency chain switching each time, and can improve uplink transmission performance.

The uplink signal sending method includes obtaining first indication information, and determining, based on the first indication information, whether to send an uplink signal on a supplementary uplink (SUL) or an uplink (UL).
