Abstract:
A method and a device for providing the supply voltage for the loads of a vehicle on-board electrical system, using a plurality of generators. A regulator unit having at least one output stage transistor is allocated to each of the generators. The output stage transistor is controlled by means of a pulse-width-modulated control signal. The control signal generated in one of the regulator units, or a control signal derived therefrom that describes the pulse-duty factor of the pulse-width-modulated signal, is also supplied to the regulator units of the additional generators, and is also used there to control the output stage transistors. This procedure may bring into agreement the degree of loading of the generators.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting an identifier for the type of a generator from the regulator of the generator to a control unit of a motor vehicle having the following steps: detection of a starting process of the motor vehicle and automatic transmission of the identifier from the regulator via an analog signal line to the control unit following the detection of the starting process. Furthermore, also described is a device for transmitting an identifier for the type of a generator, having a generator, a regulator provided for regulating the generator and a control unit connected to the regulator via an analog signal line, the regulator being provided so as to transmit automatically the identifier via the analog signal line to the control unit following a detection of a starting process.
Abstract:
A method for setting predefinable parameters is described, in which for an electronic component, for example a voltage regulator having at least one integrated circuit, the latter has an external connection, via which it is connectable to a programming device. For the latter, a so-called zero programming is provided in the manufacture of the integrated circuit, and predefinable parameters or settings are programmed in following the completion of the manufacturing process, in particular following the assembly of the component or the voltage regulator with the associated generator.
Abstract:
A vehicle electrical system includes an alternator, a rectifier connected to the alternator, a battery which is connectable to the output connections of the rectifier, and a reverse polarization detector connected to the battery. The reverse polarization detector includes a diode. In addition, the reverse polarization detector has a threshold-value element connected in series with the diode.

Abstract:
A method for stabilizing the voltage in an energy-supply system, particularly in a motor-vehicle electrical system, that is fed by a battery and a generator. If the battery is weak or has completely failed, switching in a new consumer may lead to a voltage dip in the system. To prevent this, it is proposed as a precaution to switch in a consumer not needed at the moment. If, at this point, a new consumer is to be switched in, the consumer switched in as a precaution is automatically disconnected, and the excess energy therefrom is switched over to the new consumer.
Abstract:
A device for detecting a change in a generator output signal of a vehicle generator includes a window comparator for comparing a signal amplitude of the generator output signal to at least one threshold value which limits a signal amplitude range, a detector for detecting a change in the generator output signal based on an output signal of the window comparator, a detection unit for detecting a signal amplitude difference between a maximum signal amplitude and a minimum signal amplitude of the generator output signal, and an adaptation unit for adapting the signal amplitude range of the window comparator, based on the signal amplitude difference, when there is the change in the generator output signal.
Abstract:
In a device and a method for regulating an alternator increased alternator output is achieved either in that the exciter current can have a value above the nominal exciter current or in that the alternator control parameters are fixed in such a way that overheating could occur under unfavorable circumstances. In order to prevent this overheating even under unfavorable circumstances, the temperature is measured preferably in the regulator and the temperature at critical locations is determined from this temperature while taking into account typical parameters. This can be effected in that the temperature or temperatures which would occur in stationary operation are first determined. When an impermissible temperature is detected, the exciter current is reduced by suitable steps until the allowable maximum temperature is not exceeded.
Abstract:
An improved power supply unit for a vehicle electrical system of a motor vehicle, which has an a.c. generator, that provides a phase signal, having an excitation coil, a field regulator assigned to the excitation coil and a rectifier having rectifier elements for the rectification of the generator voltage supplied by the a.c. generator. The field regulator has a voltage detection range for the evaluation of the phase signal having a minimum value and a maximum value, the maximum value being adjusted to the nominal voltage of a power supply unit of the motor vehicle.
