Abstract: A main field connection to connect to a main field winding has a semi-cylindrical portion with an axially thicker outer surface, an axially thinner inner surface, with an aperture. An extending portion extends from the semi-cylindrical portion to a remote extending end. The remote extending end extends for a first axial distance. The axially thicker portion of the semi-cylindrical portion extends for a second axial distance. A ratio of the first axial distance to the second axial distance is between 0.65 and 1.4. A rotating assembly, a generator and a method are also disclosed.

Abstract: A resistor pack assembly including an anti-rotation housing. The anti-rotation housing includes a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, one or more anti-rotation lugs extending away from the first surface, and an internal cavity extending from the second surface into the anti-rotation housing towards the first surface. The resistor pack assembly also including a positive rail located at least partially within the internal cavity, a negative rail having an inner circular face and an outer circular face located radially outward from the inner circular face, and an insulator ring is interposed between the second surface of the anti-rotation housing and the outer circular face of the negative rail.

Abstract: A generator arrangement includes a housing with a mounting feature, a main generator with an outboard shaft arranged within the housing and axially offset from the mounting feature along a rotation axis, and a permanent magnet generator. The permanent magnet generator has an inboard shaft arranged within the housing between the main generator and the mounting feature. The outboard shaft is coupled to the inboard shaft to provide rotation to the main generator through the permanent magnet generator. Accessory gearboxes and methods of generating electrical power are also described.

Abstract: A system for relieving pressure from within a generator casing can include a generator shaft defining a shaft channel therein and at least one rotating valve disposed within the shaft channel of the generator shaft and in fluid communication with an interior of the generator casing and the atmosphere. The rotating valve is configured to allow fluid within the generator casing to flow through the generator shaft to the atmosphere in an open state and while rotating. The rotating valve is configured to prevent fluid within the generator casing from flowing in a closed state.

Abstract: A method of driving an integrated drive generator is provided. The method includes driving a carrier shaft of an epicyclic differential and a variable component of a hydraulic trimming device that is operably coupled to a sun gear of the epicyclic differential. The method also includes driving a generator with an output ring gear that is maintained at a constant output frequency. The method further includes maintaining the constant output frequency by controllably manipulating the speed of the sun gear that is in operable communication with the output ring gear.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to piece-part, sub-assembly, assembly, and component levels of a differential composed of a sun gear configuration and utilized in an integrated drive generator. An integrated drive generator is a hydro-mechanical transmission that drives a synchronous salient pole generator. The integrated drive generator is a constant speed output, variable speed input transmission that includes the differential and a hydraulic unit. In general, the integrated drive generator utilizes the variable speed input from an accessory gear box of an engine to drive or control a hydraulic unit, which in turn drives or controls a churn leg member of the differential. As the differential is driven, speeds of each speed member of the differential are then summed to generate the constant speed output to drive the synchronous salient pole generator.
