Abstract: This application provides a buffer configuration method and a switching device, to ensure no packet loss, and belongs to the field of network technologies. The method includes: sending, by a first switching device, a first measurement frame to a second switching device; receiving, by the first switching device, a second measurement frame sent by the second switching device, where the second measurement frame is generated through triggering based on the first measurement frame; determining, by the first switching device, a buffer configuration parameter based on the first measurement frame and the second measurement frame; and setting, by the first switching device, a local buffer based on the configuration parameter. This application is used to automatically configure a buffer of a switching device, thereby reducing buffer space without packet loss.

Abstract: This application discloses an information notification method and a related apparatus. The Ethernet storage system includes a first switching device and a first node, and the first switching device is an access device of the first node. The first node sends a join message to the first switching device. The join message includes an identifier of the first node and configuration information of the first node. The first switching device receives the join message, obtains the identifier of the first node based on the join message, determines, based on the identifier of the first node, a first zone corresponding to the first node, and sends a join notification message to a second node that belongs to the first zone. The join notification message includes the identifier of the first node and the configuration information of the first node.

Abstract: This application discloses a link fault handling method, a related apparatus, a storage medium, and a program product, and belongs to the field of communication technologies. In this method, a forwarding plane component of a network device updates a reference state table in time by actively polling a port status register, so that when forwarding a data flow, the forwarding plane component can sense a local faulty link in time based on the reference state table, and perform link switching in time, and a PHY chip does not need to report fault information to a control plane CPU in the network device, or wait for the control plane CPU to deliver an instruction. That is, this solution does not depend on control plane path computation, and does not require additional communication from a data plane to a control plane, to avoid a delay caused by fault handling of the CPU.

Abstract: This application provides a packet processing method and a network device. A third network device is multi-homed to a first network device and a second network device, the first network device is configured with a first physical MAC address and a virtual MAC address, the second network device is configured with a second physical MAC address and the virtual MAC address, and the virtual MAC address is used to forward a user data packet to a network side. The method includes: a first network device receives a protocol packet from a third network device, where the protocol packet includes the second physical MAC address; and the first network device forwards the protocol packet to the second network device based on the second physical MAC address. Thus, the protocol packet can be normally forwarded without special configuration on a server, so that a cumbersome configuration process is avoided.
