Abstract: A polarization interference correlation spectrometer comprising a first polarizer for polarizing a sample beam, a Soleil compensator for producing an appropriate optical path difference between the paths of the two orthogonal polarization components of the sample beam polarized by said first polarizer, a second polarizer for synthesizing the two orthogonal polarization components accompanied with said optical path difference and generating interference, and a photoelectric transducer for deriving said interference as a modulated electric signal.

Abstract: The beam modulating portion of a spectrophotometer has three beam paths, a first reference beam path, a second reference beam path, and a common sample beam path. The two reference beams are interrupted alternately by respective choppers which operate in synchronism and the sample beam is inserted into the respective interrupted periods of the two reference beams by a reflection mirror to provide two composite signals. The monochrometer portion of this spectrophotometer is a combination of two monochromators of the conventional type each receiving a respective composite signal.
