Abstract: A patient support apparatus includes a frame comprised of one or more components controlled by a controller to move portions of the frame between a plurality of positions and orientations. The controller monitors usage of the patient support apparatus components and dates when maintenance has been performed on one or more of the patient support apparatus components. The controller is operable to transmit the maintenance date and usage information to a remote computing device, wherein the remote computing device is configured to determine an availability status of the patient support apparatus that indicates whether the patient support apparatus is available to be scheduled for maintenance or assigned to a patient, based on the maintenance date and the usage information.

The controller is configured to automatically detect and distinguish the addition or removal of non-patient loads from patient-related loads by determining the rate of weight change of each weight event signals.
