Abstract: This disclosure relates to systems and methods for charging a battery. An example embodiment may include a battery, a battery charger device and a controller. The controller is configured to cause the battery charger device to charge the battery with a plurality of pulses and rests. Each pulse includes a respective pulse duration and a respective pulse current. Each rest includes a respective rest duration. While in a first charge phase, the controller is configured to adjust at least one of: the respective pulse duration, the respective pulse current, or the respective rest duration based on at least one sample of a characteristic voltage of the battery. Subsequently, the controller is configured to initiate a second charging phase. The controller is further configured to cause the battery charger device to charge the battery according to a second charge waveform.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a battery and a method for its manufacture. An example method includes forming an anode comprising silicon monoxide and a forming a cathode comprising lithium cobalt oxide. The method also includes arranging the anode, the cathode, and a separator in a layered arrangement. The method further includes winding the layered arrangement to form a wound arrangement, compressing the wound arrangement, and packing it into a pouch. The method yet further includes soaking the wound arrangement in an electrolyte for a predetermined time and at a predetermined temperature. The electrolyte includes a lithium hexafluorophosphate salt dissolved in a solvent including ethylene carbonate and diethylene carbonate in about a 1:2 volume ratio. The additive includes fluoroethylene carbonate in an 8-12% weight ratio.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to lithium-ion batteries and methods for their manufacture. Specifically, the method includes forming a cathode on a first substrate and forming an anode on a second substrate. The anode material includes silicon. The method includes slitting the first substrate and the second substrate. After slitting the respective substrates, the method includes depositing stabilized lithium metal particles on the anode and forming a cathode electrode tab coupled to the cathode and an anode electrode tab coupled to the anode. The method also includes coupling the anode and the cathode to form a layered structure. The method further includes winding the layered structure to form a rolled structure and placing the rolled structure in a container. The method additionally includes placing an electrolyte in the container sealing the container with the rolled structure and electrolyte placed therein to form a battery.
