Abstract: Example embodiments relate to devices for gesture detection that incorporate ultra-wideband (UWB) transceivers. An example device includes a first UWB transceiver configured to transmit and receive UWB signals to communicate with a second UWB transceiver. The UWB signals are indicative of an orientation and a position of the first UWB transceiver relative to the second UWB transceiver. The second UWB transceiver corresponds to a first controlled device. The device also includes a memory and a processor. The processor is configured to identify one or more gestures traced out by the device based on the UWB signals. The processor is also configured to cause the first UWB transceiver to transmit a command UWB signal to the second UWB transceiver based on the one or more identified gestures. The command UWB signal provides an instruction to the first controlled device.

Abstract: Various arrangements for using a positioning tag to facilitate control of a smart home device are presented herein. A communication sessions can be established between a control device and a positioning tag via a first device-to-device communication protocol. In response to a trigger event indicative of a user desiring to control the separate smart home device being detected, a positioning enablement message can be transmitted to the positioning tag via the first device-to-device communication protocol. A signal used for positioning is transmitted by the positioning tag using a second device-to-device communication protocol. Based on the received signal via the second device-to-device communication protocol, an interface that controls the smart home device is activated.

Abstract: Example embodiments relate to devices for media handoff. An example device includes a first transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals to communicate with a second transceiver of a handoff device. The signals are indicative of an orientation and a position of the first transceiver relative to the second transceiver. The device also includes an inertial measurement unit configured to measure changes in angular orientation or position of the device. Additionally, the device includes a memory. The memory stores a first set of instructions. Further, the device includes a processor communicatively coupled to the first transceiver, the inertial measurement unit, and the memory. The processor is configured to execute the first of instructions to cause the handoff device to output a piece of media.
