Abstract: Systems and methods of policy shaping for an aggregated network include (A) receiving a first request to deliver first content to a first device being transported by a vehicle; (B) receiving a second request to deliver second content to a second device being transported by the vehicle; (C) determining (i) a first communication protocol corresponding to the first request and (ii) a second communication protocol corresponding to the second request; (D) determining (i) a first count corresponding to the first content and (ii) a second count corresponding to the second content; and (E) applying (i) a first policy, based on the first communication protocol and the first count, to a first forward data stream including the first content and (ii) a second policy, based on the second communication protocol and the second count, to a second forward data stream including the second content.

Abstract: An antenna installation assistant application provides one or more GUIs representing ports of a vehicle-mountable antenna, as well as one or more on-board modems and/or other network hardware. The assistant application may determine, and indicate to a user of the assistant application, whether ports of the antenna are connected to ports of the modem (or other hardware), and more specifically, whether each connection is correct for the hardware. The assistant application thus may guide an installer through installation of one or more antenna in a manner that is responsive to actions taken by the installer, including correct or incorrect wired connections between hardware for a vehicle-based communications network.

A disclosed method includes obtaining first data tagged with a first differentiated services code point (DSCP) value, obtaining second data tagged with a second, different DSCP value, and handling the first and second data with different service levels based upon the first and second DSCP values, wherein handling the first and second data with different service levels includes routing the first and second data based upon the first and second DSCP values by routing the first data via a first modem and routing the second data via a second modem.

An exemplary method includes periodically receiving one or more performance metrics of one or more communication links that support wireless communications for one or more networked computing devices onboard a vehicle, wherein the one or more performance metrics fluctuate over time, periodically determining a link quality indicator based upon the one or more performance metrics, and periodically transmitting the link quality indicator to a traffic shaper system to cause the traffic shaper system to dynamically allocate bandwidth among the one or more networked computing devices based upon the link quality indicator.
