    摘要: A loss of signal assert and de-assert level programming mechanism in an optical transceiver coupled to a host computing system. A control module is connected to the host so as to receive the programmable loss of signal level. A post-amplifier detects when the receive power drops below a loss of signal level. However, in this case, instead of the loss of signal level being static, a loss of signal level adjustment mechanism changes the loss of signal level detected by the post-amplifier as directed by the programmable loss of signal level received from the host. The loss of signal assert and de-assert levels may be calibrated by comparing receive power to the threshold for assertion and de-assertion of the loss of signal.

    摘要: The optoelectronic transceiver includes first and second controller ICs. Each controller IC includes logic, a memory, an interface, and at least one input port. Each memory is configured to store digital diagnostic data and has a unique serial device address to allow a host access to each of these controller ICs separately and independently. At least some of the digital diagnostic data is common to both the first controller IC and the second controller IC. The inclusion of two controller ICs allows the same diagnostic data to be stored in completely different memory mapped locations. This allows hosts that are preconfigured differently to read different memory mapped locations on the different controller ICs to obtain the same diagnostic data.

    摘要: This disclosure concerns optical packages such as may be used in optical transceivers and transmitters. In one example, an optical package includes a header assembly having a base portion to which is attached a header structure that is split into first and second portions that are separated from each other by a space. The header structure further includes one or more electrical leads extending through the base portion and into one of the first and second portions of the header structure. An active temperature control device is included in the optical package and resides in the space between the first and second portions of the header structure. Finally, an optical element, such as a laser, is provided that is arranged for thermal communication with the active temperature control device so that operation of the optical element can be controlled by way of the active temperature control device.

    摘要: A method for recovering control of a continually resetting control module is provided. The method recovers control by monitoring a vehicle's communication links for a very short period each time the boot program starts and before control is passed to the application program. Alternatively, control may also be recovered using a running reset counter (RSC) that increments every time the boot program is entered via an abnormal condition. After recovering control, the control module can communicate with an external tool to diagnose and/or reprogram the control module and thereby prevent continual reset.
