    摘要: A cement bonded agglomerate containing boron wherein the setting time of the flowable mixture is essentially unchanged is prepared by dissolving a boron compound or compounds, such as boric acid or borax, in water. Next, adding a sufficient amount of a water soluble calcium compound, such as hydrated lime, to chemically react with substantially all of the dissolved boron, the reaction forming an insoluble calcium borate compound which forms a slurry with the water. This slurry is then mixed with material to be agglomerated and cement and poured into a mold. The mold can either produce individual shaped pieces ready for use or a slab which can be broken into the proper size pieces.

    摘要: A low elemental silicon source of ferrophosphorus used to increase the phosphorus content of molten iron, steel and their alloys is prepared by pulverizing ferrophosphorus having an elemental silicon content in excess of 1 percent by weight to enable it to pass a 3/8-inch sieve. Next, phosphoric acid is mixed with the ferrophosphorus. The phosphoric acid oxides substantially all of the elemental silicon to silica. After oxidation, the resulting composition is dried and formed into the desired size and shape for ease of handling during iron and steel making processes.

    摘要: An alloying addition agent for iron or steel baths comprising a mixture of a ferroalloy, an oxide of the desired alloying element and silicon carbide. The oxygen in the oxide enhances an exothermic reaction with silicon carbide to maintain the temperature of the bath. At the same time, the reaction produces very little smoke which normally results from prior art addition agents of this type, thereby reducing pollution of the surrounding atmosphere.
