Abstract: A method for producing pigments comprises the steps of creating a first layer on a substrate, structuring the first layer and detaching the pigments from the substrate. In the present case, the first layer is a crack-forming layer, so that the first layer is structured by the arising of cracks. Prior to detaching the pigments, a pigment layer is applied onto the first layer structured by the cracks.

Abstract: A flat security element with microreflectors arranged as a microreflector pattern in a main plane of the security element. The microreflectors present a motif made up of image points to a viewer. The motif appears for the viewer as lying outside the main plane of the security element. Two of the microreflectors are adjusted in each case to produce one of the image points of the motif appearing for the viewer as lying outside the main plane. The microreflector pattern has several groups of microreflectors. Each of the groups is provided to represent to the viewer a perspective view of the motif after tilting the security element about an axis lying in the main plane. Image points of the motif are shifted by shift ranges of different sizes through the tilting.

Abstract: An optically variable security element has a multicolored, reflective areal region including a first relief structure disposed at a higher level than a second relief structure. The first relief structure has a first ink coating and the second relief structure has a second, different ink coating. The two relief structures overlap in an overlap region. The first ink coating of the first relief structure is disposed at a higher level in the overlap region and has at least one recess the dimension of which is more than 140 μm. The first ink coating comprises an edge region adjoining the recess, and as a bicolor register feature the first relief structure lets the edge region of the first ink coating appear with a first color impression and the second relief structure through the recess lets the second ink coating appear with a second, different color impression in mutual register.

Abstract: An optically variable security element wherein the areal expansion whereof defines a z direction standing perpendicularly thereon, and has a multicolored, reflective areal region. The areal region includes two relief structures arranged at different height levels in the z direction. The relief structures are each supplied with an ink coating which produce a different color impression. The ink coating of the relief structure disposed at a higher level is configured in the feature region as a regular or irregular grid with grid elements and grid spaces. The dimensions of the grid elements and/or grid spaces are below 140 μm at least in one direction, so that, in the feature region, for a viewer from at least one viewing angle, the ink coating of the relief structure disposed at a lower level is visible through the grid spaces of the ink coating of the relief structure disposed at a higher level.

Abstract: A flat security element has a main plane and microreflector arranged in a microreflector pattern and present at least one motif that, when the security element is tilted, has a motif effect that relates to the main plane.
