Abstract: The invention is directed to providing a member of an audiovisual projector together with the projector, the member containing a plural number of slides and an equal plural number of audio recording surfaces wherein the slides and recording surfaces are inseparable portions of the member. Associated with the various configurations of the member are suitable control mechanisms which enable synchronous recording of sound and reproduction of sound from these recording surfaces at the same time the related slide is being projected. The control mechanisms also provide automatic injection of slides and related sound tracks.

Abstract: A logic operated typewriter including a print head that has low inertia individually moving character-bearing fonts in a driven print wheel. The character-bearing fonts are magnetically retained at the periphery of the wheel. Magnetic count means are provided which are associated with each of the fonts to enable font selection by counting from a predetermined start of counting location on the wheel to select a particular font for impacting same against the typewriter platen so as to make a printed character. A magnetic head is used to count the markers on the print wheel and a magnetic hammer is used to impact each particular font selected.

Abstract: A mechanical combination digital lock having discrete positions for each combination selector. Such lock is adaptable to hangtype or door installed locks and has a replaceable selector assembly whenever it is desired to change the combination. Throw or dead bolt is provided on the door type lock for maximum security. This lock may be opened or closed in the dark. Detent action within the lock, and definition of the start location is provided so that it is possible to accurately position each selector by the sense of touch.

Abstract: A self locking solenoid is provided by this invention. The solenoid has a magnetizable member which is responsive to a magnetic field to provide translation action of the magnetizable member. A coil circumjacent to a portion of the magnetizable member is used to provide the magnetic field when energized. Components that are responsive to the magnetic field are also provided for unblocking the path of translation of the magnetizable member in order to permit its translation when a field is present or to block the path of its translation when no field is present. Other components are included to provide mechanical bias to the magnetizable member and to the components that block the path of translation as well as components to seal against liquid inflow into the solenoid when used for controlling water or other liquid distribution systems.

Abstract: A mechanical scanner comprising an endless belt having a plurality of electrically conductive strips embedded in the material of the belt for making contact with guiding rollers. The conductive strips have extensions embedded for connecting and carrying a magnetic head by the belt so as to enable the belt to transport the head and thereby cause the head to scan a surface of magnetizable material to record on the surface or to reproduce from such surface. One of the guiding rollers is coupled to a motor that drives the belt during scanning action. Control circuits are provided for controlling the scan time, controlling the injection and ejection of a slide or tape portion, and for automatically recycling the scanning action.

Abstract: In an electrical ignition system comprising a distributor and wires that connect to a plurality of igniters, an inventive device is provided which contains gas therein for indicating the operation of the ingition system due to periodic ionization of the gas that is illuminated by virtue of electromagnetic fields created by the ignition system. Such device may take a form of a plurality of cylindrical member interconnected by a web and made of glass or transparent plastic material. Such cylindrical members are filled with a gas of the class selected from neon, argon, zenon, or krypton, or mixtures thereof in view of ionization of such gases at low intensities of the electromagnetic fields. Such cylindrical device may optionally have extended therethrough a metallic rod for adaptation at either end of the rod to a distributor ignition port or for adaptation to an igniter cap, the other end of the rod being connected either to the distributor or to the igniter, as the case may be. A method is provided for evacuating the air in any of the cylindrical members and for pumping-in the gases, identified above, into hollow portions within the cylindrical members, and for providing closure of such ports as are used for evacuation or for pumping-in the gases. In any of the configurations described, these devices may be made as integral portions of a distributor cap by molding or adhesively attaching thereto.

Abstract: The principles and use of magnetic main core flux and ways for eliminating mutual flux components contributing to distortion in a group of magnetic devices results in these magnetic devices having better operating results and hence contributes to better and higher fidelity products. Included are components such as logic gates. A basic ternary or three-state logic element is disclosed with distortion-free properties and its use in computer applications enables a large reduction of the number of logic gates along with faster computation time in view of the fact that counting is done by three instead of the conventional two in digital computers. The freedom from distortion in the logic gates enhances pulse handling ability, reduces the quantity of wave shape restoration components needed in equipment wherever used, and enables a greater amount of information to be stored in a smaller amount of space on a recording medium in view of the freedom from distortion components, which actually use up a large portion of the frequency spectrum and hence recording space.
