    Abstract: A timing device for performing a switching function at dusk and at a specific time during the night. A synchronous motor drives a time dial at a first speed during the daylight hours and a double that speed after dusk through a power train including a lever arm driven by an eccentric to engage the teeth of a ratchet gear to rotate a cam assembly which actuates movable contacts through which the motor and a load controlled by the timing device are energized. Projections carried by the time dial engage cam portions formed on a star wheel to rotate the star wheel and the cam assembly to actuate the movable contacts to deenergize the load and the motor.

    Abstract: A control system comprising a device for turning ON and OFF a motor at set times each day, for turning ON lights during the ON period of the motor upon the onset of darkness, and for turning the lights OFF at the same time as the motor, the device including a timer and its contacts, a relay, a filter capacitor, a resistor, diode, and a photocell, the latter being mounted remotely, the motor of the timer and a series combination of the photocell and relay coil being connected across line voltage in parallel, the contacts of the timer for a predetermined period of time each day connecting line voltage to the rotator motor load and to the normally closed contacts of the photocell controlled relay which are held open during the day, the contacts of the timer also supplying electrical power to the lighting circuits when the relay is de-energized, and the normally closed relay contacts being open during the daylight hours when the resistance of the photocell is minimum thereby allowing maximum current flow to energize the relay coil thus keeping the relay contacts open.

    Abstract: A firing circuit, preferably for use in limit switches, consisting of two electrically isolated circuits which utilize solid state technology to provide the limit switch with the equivalent of a one normally open (1NO) and one normally closed (1NC) contact arrangement, the firing circuit consisting of a trigger arrangement comprising two transistors with common emitters and a connection made through a resistor between the collector of one transistor and the base of the other, a resistor and a capacitor being serially connected from the collector of each transistor to ground, the emitters from two unijunction transistors (UJT''s) which form parts of two relaxation oscillators being connected to the intermediate point between the corresponding serially connected resistor and capacitor, the bases of the UJT''s being connected to the primary windings of two pulse transformers thus providing two electrically isolated outputs for the firing of two isolated Triac circuits connected to the secondary windings of the pulse transformers, the trigger arrangement and the relaxation oscillators being connected across the output of a Zener regulated diode bridge rectifier to which an input voltage is applied, and an actuating switch being provided to control application of voltage to the base of one of the transistors to thereby control its conduction.

    Abstract: A time-delay circuit, preferably for use for delaying application of full voltage to an electric discharge device, including a pair of spaced terminals for connection to a voltage source, a relay including a coil and at least first and second normally open contacts with the relay coil and the first normally open contact being connected in series with the pair of spaced terminals, the second normally open contact when in closed condition connecting one of the aforesaid pair of spaced terminals in series with a third terminal, a thermal delay device including a current-responsive heater and a third normally open contact, the latter contact being closed in response to a predetermined period of current flow through the heater, the heater of the thermal delay device being connected in series with the aforesaid relay coil between the pair of spaced terminals, and the first and third normally open contacts being connected in parallel with the heater of the thermal delay device whereby closure of the third normally open contact in response to the predetermined period of current flow through the heater results in sufficient current flow through the relay coil to effect closure of the first and second normally open contacts, closure of the first normally open contact maintaining energization of the relay coil and effecting deenergization of the heater, and closure of the second normally open contact connecting the third terminal to one of the pair of spaced terminals resulting in full voltage being applied to the electric discharge device.
