Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes predicting, via a predictive analytical model, a time interval associated with a future key-on event for a vehicle. The predictive analytical model is based at least in part on key-on event data. The method includes generating, based at least in part on the predicted time interval, a power mode instruction configured to cause a vehicle Telematics Control Unit (TCU) or Phone as a Key (PaaK) system to change a TCU state from a low energy state to a higher energy state, and transmitting, based on the predicted time interval, the power mode instruction to the vehicle TCU.

Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for dead zone mitigation for a passive entry system of a vehicle. An example vehicle includes antenna modules to measure signal strengths of broadcasts from a mobile device. The example vehicle also includes a wireless module to, when the mobile device is in a dead zone, generate first and second predictors and enable passive entry when the first and second predictors match and indicate that the mobile device is in a passive entry zone, and a sensor detects a user. The example vehicle also includes a body control module to unlock a door when passive entry is enabled.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes a system for re-establishing a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) pairing PIN key to repair a secure connection between a mobile device and vehicle. The system may detect an error state, and provide a prompt to the user to determine if they wanted to intentionally remove their account. Responsive to an affirmative response from the user that the removal of the connection credentials was intentional, the system may send a revoke request to a server associated with the vehicle. Responsive to a user input that indicates that the removal of the credentials was unintentional, the vehicle may fetch an encrypted PIN seed of the BLE pairing PIN from memory or request the PIN seed from the server. The PIN seed re-establishes the secured pairing of the mobile device and the vehicle infotainment system without undergoing a new device setup procedure.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to systems and methods for securely creating passwords for performing various keyless operations upon a vehicle. In an exemplary method, a computer receives a request for creating a password for a phone-as-a-key (PaaK) device. The computer determines that the PaaK device is present inside the vehicle and that the vehicle engine has been placed in an accessory state or a run state by an authorized PaaK device located in the vehicle. The computer further determines that a passive entry passive start (PEPS) key fob is present inside the vehicle. A prompt is provided for entry of a password. The computer checks to determine if an entered password has been already assigned to another PaaK device. If unassigned, the computer links the password to the PaaK device and authorizes the entered password as a valid keyless starting password for the vehicle.
