Abstract: A pad assembly adapted to be mounted in a caliper body for a disc brake has a pad-housing pocket. The disc brake defines an axial direction, either coinciding or parallel with the direction of the rotation axis of the brake disc associable with the caliper body, a radial direction (R-R), orthogonal to the axial direction, and a tangential (T-T) or circumferential (T-T) direction, orthogonal both to the axial direction and to the radial direction (R-R). The pad-housing pocket has at least one pocket wall to form a tangential abutment for a brake pad associable with the caliper body. The pad assembly has a brake pad having a support plate, adapted to form a support for at least one associable friction material, where the support plate has a main extension along the radial (R-R) and tangential (T-T) directions. The support plate has a predefined bulk along the tangential direction (T-T), or tangential bulk, such that the support plate is adapted to be accommodated with a predetermined tangential play in the pad-housing pocket. The pad also has at least one elastic element.

The plate-shaped portion has end portions protruding from opposite sides with respect to the first floating element bridge, a second inner plate-shape portion side facing the biasing device, two plate-shaped portion projections protruding from the plate-shaped portion side and having thrust surfaces biasing a second pad against the second braking surface and forming with the plate-shaped portion a ventilation channel.

Abstract: A disc brake caliper, has a caliper body having a pair of half-calipers which define a housing compartment for a portion of an associable brake disc. The half-calipers being placed on opposite sides to the housing compartment in an axial direction parallel to the rotation axis of the associable brake disc. At least one half-caliper is fitted with at least one housing seat for a piston suitable to press a pad against the associable brake disc, in the axial direction. The housing seat passes through the respective half-caliper so as to extend between an inner wall facing the housing compartment and an outer wall of the half-caliper, axially opposite the housing compartment. A cup-shaped hollow insert is housed inside the housing seat so as to present a closed end wall, placed on the side of the outer wall of the half-caliper, and a cavity having an aperture facing axially towards the housing compartment. At least one piston is housed inside the cavity of the insert and is guided axially by an inner side wall of the insert.
