    Abstract: An electric drive system includes a power electronics module with a DC-DC converter and an inverter. The power electronics modules include a plurality of Silicon Carbide switches. Dynamic models are used to estimate the temperatures of the switch junctions and of the Direct Bond Copper substrate. The dynamic models rely on a coolant flowrate value from a coolant system. If the estimate of the substrate temperature differs substantially from a measured substrate temperature, a controller concludes that the coolant system is not delivering the stated flow rate of coolant and takes remedial action such as reducing motor torque to zero.

    Abstract: A vehicle, a vehicle electronics power assembly, and a method for providing and cooling an inductor assembly are provided. The vehicle has provided with a vehicle electrical system with a variable voltage converter (VVC) and an inductor assembly with a core and a winding. A housing is provided with a first housing member and a second housing member. The first and second housing members cooperate to encapsulate the winding and at least a portion of the core of the inductor assembly. The first housing member defines a first inlet and a first outlet, and the second housing member defines a second inlet and a second outlet. A fluid system is connected to the first inlet, the second inlet, the first outlet, and the second outlet to provide pressurized fluid to the first and second inlets to circulate fluid through the housing.

    Abstract: A temperature sensor arrangement includes a housing having on opposite sides thereof a spring element and cover, and a temperature sensor lead and thermal pad such that the spring element is disposed between one of the sides and the cover, the temperature sensor lead is disposed between the other of the sides and the thermal pad, and the cover and thermal pad define opposite exterior sides of the temperature sensor arrangement. The housing carries and permits relative movement of the cover. The spring pushes the cover away from the one of the sides.

    Abstract: An integrated capacitor and power module include a power module, an intermediate cold plate, and a capacitor module. The intermediate cold plate has a first side attached to the power module and a second side opposite the first side. The capacitor module is attached to a second side of the intermediate cold plate. The capacitor module includes a plurality of metalized film capacitor cells supported by a metal plate and a base cold plate with a layer of thermal interface material between the metal plate and the base cold plate. A fluid circulation system is operatively connected to the intermediate cold plate to circulate a fluid through the cold plate.     Abstract: An electric drive system includes an actively cooled inductor. The inductor is formed by winding C-shaped wire around a bobbin such that channels are defined between the bobbin and the wire. After the bobbin is installed over the core, a plastic layer is injected between the core and the bobbin. This expands the bobbin against the wire to seal the channels and also to fasten the bobbin in place. A variety of porting arrangements are proposed to route cooling fluid through the channels to cool the windings and the core.

    Abstract: A closed ferromagnetic housing has a pair of access ports and a center ferromagnetic post extending from and between opposite ends thereof. At least one conductor, contained within and completely surrounded by the closed ferromagnetic housing, is wound around the center ferromagnetic post such that the closed ferromagnetic housing, center ferromagnetic post, and at least one conductor form an inductor in which the ferromagnetic housing and the center ferromagnetic post define a core of the inductor and the at least one conductor defines a coil of the inductor. The access ports are configured to permit flow of coolant into the closed ferromagnetic housing and around the center ferromagnetic post to cool the at least one conductor.
