摘要: An inverter is electrically connected between a traction battery and a switch bank. The inverter includes a plurality of pairs of series connected power semiconductor devices. Each of the pairs is electrically connected in parallel with the traction battery to define a phase leg, and each of the power semiconductor devices has a body diode in parallel therewith. The inverter also includes a plurality of diodes connected in parallel with the power semiconductor devices such that only one of the power semiconductor devices of each of the pairs has one of the diodes connected in parallel therewith.

摘要: A power system for a vehicle includes a traction battery having an output voltage, a transformer including a coil, and a power converter including a plurality of capacitors and a plurality of switches arranged such that when a first subset of the switches are ON, two of the capacitors are in parallel, an AC voltage across the coil is in a positive half cycle, and a voltage across each of the two of the capacitors is half the output voltage.

摘要: An automotive power module has a plurality of power cards stacked to form an inverter module, and a DC-link capacitor mounted against the inverter module. Each of the power cards includes a top cover having opposite sides. One of the sides has extended therefrom a first matrix of pins. Each of the power cards also includes a plurality of integrated circuits defining transistors of an inverter mounted on the other of the sides, terminals extending from a perimeter of the top cover and in electrical communication with the integrated circuits, and a bottom cover having extended therefrom a second matrix of pins.

摘要: A bi-directional variable voltage converter transfers power between a traction battery and an electric machine inverter. The bi-directional variable voltage converter includes a capacitor, two power module phase legs, and an air-gapped transformer with three windings and no more than four terminals. A first of the windings defines a first terminal and a second terminal of the no more than four terminals. The first terminal is directly electrically connected with a positive terminal of the traction battery and the second terminal is directly electrically connected with a positive terminal of the capacitor and a junction between the second and third windings. A second of the windings defines a third terminal of the no more than four terminals directly electrically connected with one of the power module phase legs. A third of the windings defines a fourth terminal of the no more than four terminals directly electrically connected with the other of the power module phase legs.

摘要: A powertrain for a vehicle may include a variable voltage converter (VVC), and a controller. The VVC may include an inductor, a bus capacitor and a flying capacitor. The controller may be configured to, in response to a power demand signal exceeding a threshold, modulate switches of the VVC such that an inductor current created by a collapsing field of the inductor is directed into the flying capacitor or the bus capacitor such that a bus capacitor voltage exceeds a flying capacitor voltage, and in response to the power demand signal dropping below the threshold, modulate switches such that the flying capacitor and the bus capacitor are coupled in parallel.

摘要: A variable voltage converter transfers charge between a battery and a DC link. A first inductor couples a positive battery node and a first node. A first transistor selectably couples the first node to a negative battery node. A first capacitor has a negative terminal coupled to the negative battery node. A second inductor couples a positive terminal of the first capacitor to a second node. A second capacitor has a positive terminal coupled to the first node. A second transistor selectably couples the second node to a negative terminal of the second capacitor. When the transistors are non-conducting, the second inductor charges the DC link and the first inductor charges the first and second capacitors. When the transistors are conducting, the inductors are energized in parallel by the battery and the first and second capacitors. High voltage gain is obtained at relatively low values for the PWM duty cycle.

摘要: A vehicle includes an electric machine configured to provide propulsive force to the vehicle, and a power inverter configured to supply power from a traction battery to the electric machine using a first and second switch configured as a half-bridge, wherein the first switch is controlled by a gate driver. The gate driver is configured to operate in a soft turn-off mode when a load current exceeds a threshold for a time period defined by a mask timer, operate in a fast turn-off mode when the load current is below the threshold, and in response to a turn-off request received prior to expiration of the mask timer after the load current exceeds the threshold, enable the soft turn-off mode.
