摘要: A glass coated, flexible, hydrophilic polymeric contact lens having a sufficient amount of oxygen transportability to meet the requirements of the human cornea is disclosed. In addition, this glass coated contact lens is wettable, fillerless, hydrolytically stable, biologically inert, transparent, resilient and soft. The glass coating is substantially colorless, transparent and from about 100 to about 8,000 angstroms thick. The glass may be a silicate glass, a phosphate glass or a germanate glass or mixtures thereof. The contact lens substrate comprises a polymer comprising a poly(organosiloxane) terminally bonded through a divalent hydrocarbon group to a polymerized activated unsaturated group. Further a method of making the glass coated siloxane contact lens is disclosed.

摘要: A luminaire useful in illuminating a task area and having particular application for roadway lighting includes a monochromatic light source which is preferably a low pressure sodium lamp which can be an elongated tubular light source disposed within a housing defined by a reflector having a configured reflection surface to principally control light distribution along the length of the roadway with the lamp being at least partially surrounded and in a specific embodiment totally surrounded by a cylindrical tube acting as a substrate for a multilayer interference mirror to principally control light distribution across or transverse to the roadway. This combination of elements, in particular cooperation with their specific configurations, provides a predetermined light pattern on a task surface such as the example roadway.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of making an anti-reflective coating to an optical surface of a mold. In one embodiment, the method includes the steps of: providing a lens mold having an optical surface; forming a layer of a first hydrophobic material with a monolayer thickness over the optical surface; forming a layer of a second hydrophobic material with a thickness of about 10 to 50 nm over the layer of a first hydrophobic material, wherein the first and second hydrophobic materials are different; forming an anti-reflective coating layered structure over the layer of a second hydrophobic material; and forming a layer of a coupling agent that is deposited using vapor deposition and with a thickness of about 1 to 10 nm over the anti-reflective coating layered structure.

摘要: The use of single crystal MgF.sub.2 material as a window for missile systems has at least the advantages of having superior transmission for both the UV and IR wavelength regions, being stable in sunlight, having a low refractive index, thereby eliminating the necessity for anti-reflection coatings, being unaffected by water, therefore eliminating the need to provide wetness protection, having the mechanical strength to match the applicable usage, being able to be fabricated without excessive complication, thereby reducing manufacturing costs while assuring a high quality product, generating low scatter and being readily available from multiple domestic sources.
