The present invention discloses a multi-standard compatible electrical vehicle charger, including a power converter having an interface compatible with messages or instructions of an internal protocol; when the electrical vehicle charger charges an electric vehicle, the power converter is adapted to output power to a battery of the electric vehicle; and a data transmission device having an internal interface compatible with messages or instructions of the internal protocol and an external interface compatible with messages or instructions of an external protocol; wherein when the electrical vehicle charger charges the electric vehicle, the data transmission device is adapted to communicate with a battery management system through the external interface according to the external protocol followed by the battery management system, and to communicate with the power converter through the internal interface according to the internal protocol followed by the power converter. This electrical vehicle charger improves the utilization rate of the electrical vehicle charger.

A system and method for speed regulation of a VFD circuit via an anti-windup control scheme that provides consistent speed response with no overshoot is disclosed. A control system for operating the VFD circuit includes a feedback controller programmed to receive a speed of a motor operating responsive to an initial torque command and process the speed of the motor to generate a feedback controller output. A feedforward controller of the control system is programmed to process a speed reference to generate a feedforward controller output. A command module of the control system is programmed to determine a torque command based on the processed outputs of the feedback and feedforward controllers and operate the VFD circuit to control the motor according to the torque command.

This disclosure provides a data transmission device used between a charger and an electric vehicle, including an internal interface compatible with messages or commands of a first protocol; an external interface compatible with messages or commands of a second protocol; an outside-to-inside transformation module, being adapted to receive messages or commands of the second protocol from the electric vehicle, to transform the messages or commands of the second protocol to messages or commands of the first protocol according to functions of data carried by the messages or commands, and to send the messages or commands of the first protocol to the charger; and an inside-to-outside transformation module, being adapted to receive messages or commands of the first protocol from the charger, to transform the messages or commands of the first protocol to messages or commands of the second protocol according to functions of data carried by the messages or commands, and to send the messages or commands of the second protocol to the electric vehicle; wherein the messages or commands sent from the outside-to-inside transformation module to the charger include: CER message, CSR message, CCS message and CCR message.

A system and method for automatically defining and tuning operating parameters for a motor control device with minimal or no operator input is disclosed. The system includes a motor control device electrically connectable to an AC motor and a controller that is programmed to define a motor start-up function based on a rated current of the motor, the motor start-up function comprising an initial torque factor and an initial ramp time. The controller also triggers switching devices of the motor according to the motor start-up function to inject current into the motor during a first trial run, monitors operating conditions of the motor and motor control device during the first trial run, modifies the motor start-up function based on the monitored operating conditions, and triggers the plurality of switching devices according to the modified motor start-up function to inject current into the motor during a subsequent trial run.

A multi-standard compatible electric vehicle supply equipment includes a plurality of different electric vehicle connectors each of which corresponds to one of a plurality of different electric vehicle standards. A power converter inputs alternating current power and includes an output to output direct current power. A circuit is structured to selectively electrically connect a source of alternating current power to a number of the electric vehicle connectors, selectively electrically connect the output of the power converter to a selected one of the different electric vehicle connectors, employ a plurality of different communication protocols for the different electric vehicle connectors, detect connectivity of one of the different electric vehicle connectors with an electric vehicle and responsively select one of a plurality of different charging modes, and communicate with the electric vehicle through the selected one of the different electric vehicle connectors.

The system includes a motor control device that is electrically connectable between a motor and a power source. The motor control device includes a plurality of switching devices comprising at least one thyristor corresponding to a respective phase of the motor. The motor control device also includes a controller programmed to disconnect the power source from the motor for a predetermined time period following a first plurality of cycles of a mains phase voltage of the power source. The controller is further programmed to measure a back-emf voltage during the predetermined time period, estimate an operating characteristic of the motor from the measured back-emf voltage, and trigger the plurality of switching devices to reconnect the power source to the motor following estimation of the operating characteristic.
