    摘要: Contemplated planar magnetic transducers include a magnet and diaphragm arrangement such that substantially homogenous vertical and high horizontal magnetic flux density is realized in the inter-magnet space. Most preferably, the diaphragm is a tensioned polymer membrane in which the voice coil covers a significant portion of the active portion of the membrane, and the magnets are rare-earth metal-type magnets of ultra-high strength. Particularly preferred planar magnetic transducers allow for exceptionally large excursion of the diaphragm in a substantially homogenous magnetic field at virtually no distortion, thereby providing heretofore unachieved sound pressure levels. Arrays of such and other transducers are disclosed that provide a full-range speaker with acoustic plane source characteristics.

    摘要: Contemplated planar magnetic microphones have a magnet and diaphragm arrangement such that substantially homogenous vertical and high horizontal magnetic flux density is realized in the inter-magnet space. Most preferably, the diaphragm is disposed in the inter-magnet space and includes a voice coil covering a significant fraction of the active portion of the membrane. In further especially preferred aspects, the membrane is sufficiently strong and tensioned to allow a large elastic excursion in the inter-magnet space. Consequently, contemplated planar magnetic microphones provide exceptionally large dynamic range without compression and/or distortion and can be easily configured to operate in an environment that is subject to moisture, rain, or to even operate in a submerged environment. Moreover, contemplated microphones can be used as speakers at even high SPL without reconfiguration.

The array may be a planar array (600) with a plurality of parallel, coplanar pairs (620). The array may provide air gaps between consecutive pairs, and within individual pairs, to provide improved transparency to sound. The array may be doubled (700), with the reinforced fields (713) of one half of the array opposing the reinforced fields (723) of the other half to produce a more intense field (730). In another configuration, the array may be doubled (800) with the nearly canceled fields of one pair facing the nearly canceled fields of the other, producing an array with reinforced fields (801-804) on four sides.

    摘要: A low-frequency loudspeaker system based on a dipole principle. In some implementations, the system includes an open frame rigging system and multiple subwoofers mounted in a dipole surface array configuration in the open frame rigging system to produce controlled sound dispersion in both horizontal and vertical planes. The subwoofers are operable to produce low-frequency sound dispersion below about 300 Hz. The subwoofers mounted in the dipole configuration include a first set of subwoofers facing a first direction and a second set of subwoofers facing a second direction, in which the second direction is facing a direction that is 180 degrees with respect to the first direction. The second set of subwoofers are wired out-of-phase with respect to the first set of subwoofers to reduce non-liner distortion. The first and second sets of subwoofers are configured to concurrently move in a same direction when a signal is applied to the subwoofers.

    摘要: In an audio system, cyanoacrylate adhesive can reliably hold neodymium magnets to a stator for a planar magnetic transducer when the transducer generates high output. In one implementation, the planar magnetic transducer can include multiple neodymium magnets aligned in rows on top of a stator. Each neodymium magnet may be aligned with another neodymium magnet, and each pair of neodymium magnets can be separated by a gap. The transducer can have spacers to fill each gap and separate each pair of neodymium magnets. Cyanoacrylate adhesive can bond the neodymium magnets to the stator and bond each spacer between each pair of neodymium magnets.
