    摘要: A light collector and detector for collecting and detecting light emitted, reflected or transmitted by a scanned information medium, comprising: a planar mirror assembly for extending the width of a scanned information medium and for disposition substantially perpendicular thereto, the planar mirror assembly having a lower edge adjacent to the scanned medium and an upper edge spaced from the lower edge; first and second pyramidal mirrors located side by side facing the planar mirror, the pyramidal mirrors having respective upper edges spaced from the upper edge of the planar mirror and respective lower edges spaced from the lower edge of the planar mirror, thereby to form aligned slots for the passage of a scanning beam of light to a medium to be scanned and for allowing light emitted by, reflected from, or transmitted by the scanned medium to enter the collector; wherein the first pyramidal mirror has a first aperture in an apex region thereof and wherein the second pyramidal mirror has a second aperture in an apex region thereof; a first photodetector having a light receiving face coextensive with the aperture of the first pyramidal mirror; a second photodetector having a lightreceiving face coextensive with the aperture of the second pyramidal mirror; wherein light from the scanned medium and reflected by the collector mirrors are received by the light receiving faces of the first and second photodetectors which generate electrical signals in response thereto.

    摘要: A supporting arrangement for constraining unwanted motions of an original that is being supported for movement through a scanner includes a tray for transporting the original past an image scanning location and five datum surfaces for constraining motion. The tray includes two side rails and an elongated rib arranged underneath the tray generally parallel to the side rails. Three datum surfaces bear against the upper edges of the side rails, two of the datum surfaces positioned against one of the side rails and the other datum surface positioned against the other side rail so as to constrain unwanted motion of the tray in three degrees of motion, and a first force is then impressed against the bottom of the elongated rib. Two other datum surfaces bear against one side of the elongated rib so as to constrain unwanted motion of the tray in two additional degrees of motion, and a second force is then impressed against the other side of the elongated rib between the two datum surfaces. The tray is thereby allowed to move through the scanner without unwanted motions in other directions.

    摘要: A dual wheel frame counter comprises a tenths counter wheel having a series of ten or less evenly spaced units and respective evenly spaced actuated members equal in number to the series of at least two units, and a unit counter wheel having a series of ten evenly spaced units which correspond to the series of at least two units of the tenths counter wheel and a single actuating member which successively actuates the actuated members to rotate the tenths counter wheel one unit in response to each rotation of the unit counter wheel ten units. The unit counter wheel includes an opposed-end concentric channel having an opening between opposite ends of the channel. The single actuating member constitutes a protuberance on the unit counter wheel which is positioned in the opening to leave respective ingress and egress spaces in the opening between the protuberance and the opposite ends of the channel. The actuated members are positioned on the tenths counter wheel for the protuberance to drive one of the actuated members out of the channel through the egress space to rotate the tenths counter wheel one unit and move another of the actuated members into the channel through the ingress space each time the unit counter wheel is rotated ten units. The fact that one of the actuating members is always in the channel serves to prevent any unintended rotation of the tenths counter wheel with respect to the unit counter wheel.
