    Abstract: A sequence of a pair of r.f. pulses (90.sub.x .degree. and 90.sub.y .degree.) is applied to a solid being imaged with a time interval (.tau.) after each pulse. A static magnetic field is maintained and a magnetic gradient field is superimposed in the said time intervals, the time integrals of the gradient magnitudes of the gradient fields being equal. A free induction solid echo signal is detected at the end of the second time interval. The sequence is repeated for different values of the time integral are to obtain a set of signals and Fourier transformations with respect to the said time integral are then carried out on the set to obtain one-dimensional information. Two-dimensional information can be obtained from a plurality of sets of signals, each set being obtained in the presence of an additional orthogonal gradient field of differing value for each set.

    Abstract: A self-tuning tracking controller for permanent-magnet synchronous motors is disclosed, providing for velocity or position trajectory tracking even when both the electrical and mechanical parameters of the motor, amplifier, and load are initially unknown. A time-scale simplification of a full-order mathematical model of the motor leads to a discrete-time design model that is reduced-order and that evolves in a mechanical time-scale which is substantially slower than the electrical time-scale, permitting implementation of the self-tuning tracking controller with a lower sampling frequency (and at a lower cost) than is typically expected. A piecewise-linear parameterization of the motor torque-angle characteristic functions allows for identification of higher-order harmonics with a degree of accuracy which is selectable by the user, without requiring more computation than traditional single-term sinusoidal descriptions. Excellent performance is achieved, even with very poor initial motor parameter knowledge.

    Abstract: A transistor memory cell device comprising a pair of cross-coupled transistors constituting storage elements for storing binary information and having column drive emitter inputs to which a relatively high column drive current is applied for the selective read or write operation of storage elements of the cell device. A constant current source provides a relatively low value hold current to maintain the binary digit information stored in the storage elements in the absence of column drive current.
