Abstract: A method for checking functionality of a motor vehicle braking system. The braking system has a main module, including: hydraulically actuatable wheel brakes, pairs being assigned to respective brake circuits; at least one electrically actuatable wheel valve per wheel brake sets wheel-specific brake pressures; a pressure provision device actively builds up pressure in the wheel brakes; a pressure-medium reservoir at atmospheric pressure, and an auxiliary module, which has for each of two wheel brakes: a pressure sensor for measuring pressure in a wheel brake line; an open when deenergized isolating valve in the wheel brake line; a pump. At least one variable is measured to assess functionality of the braking system. Using least one acceptance criterion, and checked whether the variable satisfies the acceptance criterion. Determining at least one variable representing the viscosity of the brake fluid, and the at least one acceptance criterion depends on a variable representing viscosity.

Abstract: A method for operating a brake system of a vehicle which includes a master brake cylinder which can be activated by the driver by a brake pedal, at least one driver-independent pressure source, at least one wheel brake to which a wheel speed sensor is assigned, and a brake activation sensor, wherein it is checked whether a hazardous situation is present, and in the case of a hazardous situation being detected the at least one driver-independent pressure source is activated. A hazardous situation is detected when the change in a measured deceleration over time or the absolute value of a measured deceleration exceeds a predefined hazard threshold value and a brake activation operation is detected. In addition, the invention relates to a brake system for a motor vehicle having brake assistance in hazardous situations which does not require a master brake cylinder pressure sensor.

Abstract: A method for operating a dual-circuit hydraulic brake system of a vehicle having an ABS function to feed back pressure medium from low-pressure reservoirs. When there is an autonomous pressure buildup request to increase brake pressure and an ABS control system is simultaneously activated, the following steps are carried out: monitoring the filling degree of the low-pressure reservoirs; emptying the low-pressure reservoir whose filling first reaches a defined threshold value; and if, during the execution of the low-pressure reservoir emptying process at the one low-pressure reservoir, the filling of the other low-pressure reservoir reaches the threshold value and the degree of emptying of the one low-pressure reservoir undershoots a defined threshold value, or the filling of the other low-pressure reservoir exceeds the threshold value by k/100, interrupting the low-pressure reservoir emptying process at the one low-pressure reservoir, and carrying out a low-pressure reservoir emptying process at the other low-pressure reservoir.

Abstract: A method for operating a motor vehicle brake installation. An electrically controllable pressure modulation device having a pump-valve arrangement is hydraulically arranged between the primary brake system and the front axle brakes. The pump-valve arrangement includes, for each front brake, a first valve, arranged between the inlet valve of the primary brake system and the brake, and an electrically activatable pump, with a suction and pressures ports. The pressure port is connected to the brake. In the presence of a predetermined condition of the primary brake system and of an actuation of the master brake cylinder by the driver, a build-up of brake pressure at the front axle brakes is performed by the pump-valve arrangement. The pressure set by the pump-valve arrangement is higher than the brake pressure in the master brake cylinder, whereas the brake pressure of the master brake cylinder prevails at the brakes of the rear axle.

Abstract: A method for operating a brake installation of a vehicle. A first electrically controllable pressure provision device provides brake pressure for actuating hydraulically actuatable brakes. A first electronic open-loop and closed-loop control unit, and a first pressure detection device, measures brake pressure provided by a primary brake system. A secondary brake system between the primary system and a part of the wheel brakes has a second electrically controllable pressure provision device provides brake pressure for actuating at least the part of the brakes. A second electronic open-loop and closed-loop control unit, and at least one second pressure detection device, the signals of which are processed in the second electronic open-loop and closed-loop control unit. The secondary system monitors the primary system based on signals from the second pressure detection device and on a predefined brake pressure demand to build up a brake pressure corresponding to the predefined brake pressure demand.
