The external portion of the auditory prosthesis includes a magnet and an implanted coil that provides stimulation to the device recipient. A shaped shield material can be placed between the external coil and the sound processing hardware to improve efficiency and effectiveness between the external coil and implanted coil. Adverse effects on tuning frequencies can be reduced by disposing the shield material away from the magnet.

As such, the microphone plug is disposed between a sound inlet of the microphone and the contaminant-proof membrane. The microphone plug may be configured to mate with the housing or a gasket attached to the housing.

    摘要: A cochlear implant or other auditory prosthesis utilizes an external portion worn on a recipient's head and an internal portion implanted therein. Both portions include an associated coil that transmits a signal between the two portions. The external coil has a form factor substantially similar to the implantable coil. This form factor allows the external portion to be manufactured with a smaller footprint, since components that may otherwise interfere with signal transmission (e.g., batteries) may be installed closer to the external coil.
