摘要: A catheter adapted or high density mapping and/or ablation of tissue surface has a distal electrode matrix having a plurality of spines arranged in parallel configuration on which a multitude of electrodes are carried in a grid formation for providing uniformity and predictability in electrode placement on the tissue surface. The matrix can be dragged against the tissue surface upon deflection (and/or release of the deflection) of the catheter. The spines generally maintain their parallel configuration and the multitude of electrodes generally maintain their predetermined relative spacing in the grid formation as the matrix is dragged across the tissue surface in providing very high density mapping signals. The spines may have free distal ends, or distal ends that are joined to form loops for maintaining the spines in parallel configuration.

摘要: A catheter is presented herein which includes inductive coils which conform to the curved surface of a tubular catheter body and collectively can function as a three axis sensor during an intravascular and/or intracardiac treatment. The inductive coils can be fabricated on a flexible circuit substrate and affixed to the tubular catheter body. The catheter can include a distal portion that can be moved into a circular shape (“lasso”) when within vasculature or the heart. The inductive coils can be positioned around the circular shape such that a position and orientation of the distal portion can be determined in three dimensions when the distal portion is within a known fluctuating magnetic field.

摘要: A system for visually representing estimated ablation size is provided which includes sensors that acquire location signals indicating locations of an ablation device during an ablation of an organ and ablation parameters signals indicating ablation parameters during the ablation. The system also includes memory which stores location data and ablation parameter data corresponding to the location signals and ablation parameters signals. The system also includes a processing device which generates mapping information for displaying a map of the organ and first object information for displaying a first geometrical object having a first size which represents an estimated depth of the ablation of the organ. The processing device also generates second object information for displaying, concurrently with the first geometrical object, a second geometrical object having a second size which represents an estimated width of the ablation of the organ.

摘要: Methods are disclosed which involve a catheter having a distal end that includes electrically and thermally conducting inner and outer layers, a polymer layer between the inner and outer layers, thermal bridges selectively positioned between the inner and outer layers through the polymer layer to transfer heath between the two layers through the polymer layer. An ablation method includes inserting the distal end into a body of a subject, contacting tissue with the outer layer, passing ablation current via the outer layer into tissue such that heat is transferred to the inner layer via the thermal bridges, and passing irrigation fluid through irrigation channels through the inner layer, outer layer, and polymer layer to evacuate heath from the inner layer into blood.
