    Abstract: A modular medical dressing includes a layered dressing arrangement having a dressing layer with a first surface and a second surface, a release layer releasably adhered to the first surface, and a backing layer releasably adhered to the second surface. The modular medical dressing further includes a pre-defined tearable portion formed on the layered dressing arrangement. The pre-defined tearable portion is tearable from the layered dressing arrangement to reduce a surface area of the layered dressing arrangement. The pre-defined tearable portion may have a plurality of first tear lines connected to define a first tearable portion. At least a portion of the release layer is configured for use as securement tape for securing a catheter to an anatomical structure.

    Abstract: A syringe includes a barrel having a proximal end, a distal end having a distal tip defining a channel, and a sidewall extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The syringe also includes a tip cap removably connected to the distal tip of the barrel restricting fluid flow from the channel. The tip cap includes a connector configured to receive the distal tip of the barrel forming a friction engagement with the distal tip, a cap shield connected to and extending about the connector, and a release tab extending proximally from the cap shield that secures the tip cap to the barrel. A prefilled flushing syringe including a predetermined volume of a fluid disposed within the barred of the syringe, as well as methods for expulsion of fluid from the syringe and of assembling the syringe and tip cap are also disclosed herein.

    Abstract: A syringe with an integrated vein finder is disclosed, which illuminates a potential venipuncture site of a patient and identifies a vein that is suitable for venipuncture with the syringe, for blood collection or intravenous drug administration. The syringe portion of the system includes a syringe barrel and a pointed-tip needle projecting from the distal end of the barrel for venipuncture. An illumination module is coupled to the syringe barrel; it has an illumination source that projects an electromagnetic beam into an illumination zone distal the syringe's pointed tip, for illuminating and identifying a subcutaneous vein. The integrated vein finder and syringe system is operable by a sole clinician, such as a phlebotomist, who can easily manipulate the syringe and illuminate the venipuncture site with one hand, without assistance of another clinician.

    Abstract: A disinfection cap or device for disinfecting medical connectors. The cap includes a visual indicator that changes color after sufficient scrubbing effort and time have been expended by a clinician to disinfect the medical device, giving positive visual feedback to the treating clinician. An external housing of the cap includes a disinfection medium, such as a disinfectant sponge that is coupled to a rotating collar. The housing is oriented so that the sponge contacts the medical device to be cleaned. Collar rotation in turn rotates the disinfectant sponge against the VAD, providing scrubbing action. A visualization chamber within the cap contains two isolated fluids of distinct colors. As the collar is rotated it mixes the two isolated fluids, changing color of the resultant mixture. When the visualization chamber shows the new, mixed third color, the medical device is disinfected.

    Abstract: A disinfecting assembly for a prefilled flushing syringe. The disinfecting assembly includes a scrubbing cap and a disinfecting cap.     Abstract: A cap configured to engage different types of female connectors includes a housing having a closed bottom, an open top, and a sidewall extending between the top and the bottom with threads on an inner surface of the sidewall. The cap also includes a sleeve disposed in the housing with threads engaged to the threads of the housing configured to rotate relative to the housing, thereby moving the sleeve through the housing, and a gripper disposed at least partially in the sleeve having at least one flexible leg pressed radially inward by the sleeve as the sleeve moves through the housing. The cap also includes an absorbent support disposed in the gripper configured to clean and/or disinfect portions of the female connector.
